Why was it raining?
Ch'en chased after them for dear life along the highway. The three had long since left the asphalt road behind and reached a bumpy country road.
The motorcycle's suspension was good, but it could not handle so many people.
The three of them bounced around. Ch'en, with her dragon tail raised high, had it the worst. Warfarin, with wings on her back, came next. Silence, wedged between them, was the lightest, and with a feather cushion beneath her, she was actually the most comfortable one.
They all looked up.
Raindrops fell onto the first person's head—one drop, then two, until they became a torrential mist of water.
Tens of millions of tons of water poured down from the heavens.
The world turned gray and hazy.
"Why did it suddenly start raining?" Silence hated getting her feathers wet. "My feathers and glasses are soaked. Did no one bring an umbrella?"
"No. It's not like we were invited to dinner."
Ch'en was getting drenched too. Rain splashed into her eyes, narrowing her fierce crimson gaze to slits and severely reducing visibility.
Yet the motorcycle did not slow down.
Even with the road ahead obscured by rain mist, her eyes stung by water, the bike racing over rugged rocky ground, and thunder roaring in her ears, Ch'en still twisted the throttle all the way and loudly ordered Silence to report the drone's position.
"Report the position."
"I can't see the screen either right now!" Silence sounded close to breaking down. Birds tended to get a little hysterical when soaked by rain.
A burst of deafening static came through her earpiece.
Ch'en grabbed her headset with one hand. She had been about to curse, but did not quite dare to, so she could only speak softly.
"Any new developments?"
