Silence woke groggily.
She opened her eyes, frowned, and suddenly realized something extremely serious.
She had caught a cold.
Thinking about it carefully, it was hardly surprising. She had stayed up for days in the rain, then collapsed and fallen asleep in a puddle. Not catching a cold would have been the miracle.
"Silence, you're finally awake."
She turned over with difficulty and found Warfarin, now back to normal, resting her chin on her hand as she watched her. Her speech was somewhat muffled, as though she did not dare open her mouth too wide. Silence frowned, remembering that Warfarin had had her teeth pulled.
Not bad.
Silence closed her eyes and lay back down, her mood suddenly improving quite a bit.
"This incident was far too troublesome. Your Rhodes Island operators were put through a great deal, and some were even injured. We're truly sorry."
Swire, standing beside the hospital bed, opened her mouth and began saying something irritating.
Silence only wanted to sleep.
"So, we've decided to pay more."
"?"
At that, Silence was no longer sleepy in the slightest. She even wanted to sit up and discuss how much more they would be paying.
Silence's attempt to rise was immediately opposed. Warfarin forcibly pressed her back onto the bed. The latter put away her joking expression and adopted a serious, businesslike demeanor. For a creature who had lived an abnormally long time, that was hardly difficult.
"We need respect."
Her expression was solemn. "I don't see any respect from you."
"You're not the only one who's watched gangster movies... Real business isn't conducted like that. We eat hot pot, sing songs, and settle things harmoniously. There's no need to deliberately put on such a gloomy face."
"Is that so?"
Warfarin suddenly became easygoing again.
"Perhaps you're right.
