Faust moved through the dense forest.
He had long since found Mephisto's location. There was no suspense there, but just as he was about to fire a hidden shot, a sudden song interrupted his Arts. Faust stared at his target in surprise. Mephisto was singing her heart out in the clearing.
After all these years, she had started singing again?
He aimed at Ceobe, wondering what kind of psychologist she was to have erased that woman's influence over Mephisto.
Yet no matter how he looked, he could not see anything special about her apart from her overwhelming strength.
And she looked kind of foolish, no matter how he looked at her.
It did not seem like an act. Someone who could casually tear the Herd apart could tear Mephisto himself apart just as easily. There was no need for her to deliberately put on such an act. Faust weighed the gap in their strength and hurriedly unloaded his crossbow bolts to avoid an accidental discharge. Even a long-range snipe would be detected and pursued by her immediately. A few kilometers was not remotely a safe distance.
What should he do?
Seeing how foolish that person looked, Faust came up with a plan.
He slung the crossbow across his back and walked forward directly, without the slightest fear on his face.
Ceobe noticed him.
The instant he entered her sights, she locked onto the person hiding in the grass.
