"It feels a little strange."
Everything had happened too fast to take in. Before it had even begun, it was over. Hoshino sheathed her blade, and Specter returned her circular saw to its container. Grani still held up her lance, but it was no big deal. The little pony looked completely nonthreatening; even with a lance in hand, she did not look fierce at all. If anything, she looked rather cute.
"Is this the enemy of the Abyssal Hunters?"
"This is only the most basic kind. The enemies we faced were far more varied than this."
Specter put her cloak back on, her supple figure disappearing beneath its heavy snow-white fabric. Her movements and demeanor were incomparably elegant, utterly unlike the sight of her wielding a circular saw and tearing things apart just moments ago.
Hoshino felt that the monster had been wary—not only of her Jizo Mitama, but also of herself, its wielder.
"Those attacks just now had quite the air of an Abyssal Hunter."
When sane, Specter was an exceptionally experienced hunter. She appraised Hoshino's offensive with endless praise, especially the few times the shikigami had smashed the ground. A nodachi over two meters long was enough to destroy any deep-sea monster.
Hoshino felt that if this kept up, her identity as a bluffing heroine would be in danger.
An unprecedented crisis!
They continued walking through the city, waiting for the next wave of attacks.
If this Yae Sakura had been replaced with Seele, she would have crushed them all. Unfortunately, she could not be replaced; there were other people watching.
Grani clearly had many questions, but with two seasoned seniors before her, all she could do was listen and remember as much as possible, so that she would not hold Skadi back the next time they met.
