Hiyumaru had always been the one everyone disliked, mainly because she was too noisy. She was essentially Higokumaru with all her resentment stripped away, but her appearance was vastly different: pink hair with a streak of dark red in the middle, proper fox ears, and four tails trailing behind her.
Hiyumaru was asleep at the moment.
She floated in midair, looking incredibly silly.
But Hoshino knew what she would be like once she woke up. She simply hoisted Officer Ch'en onto her shoulder and retreated, moving somewhere far away from Hiyumaru.
There was one more thing.
Hoshino reached out and pulled out the demonic blade, Crimson Sakura. Its wicked flames lingered without fading, its entire blade an eerie crimson. Even Ryujin Jakka and the Chi Xiao sword paled before it.
"You don't even need to look to know that you're highly compatible with it."
Hoshino muttered to herself.
Of course, all of this depended on one prerequisite: Ch'en had to hold firm to her true self and not suffer a backlash from the demonic blade.
Honestly, that would be pretty difficult.
Hoshino did not want to try using it. She was a rather stingy person, and she was afraid that once she used it, she would not want to give it away, thus going back on the decision she had just made.
That would not be good.
She looked up and saw nothing but obsidian that had melted and cooled. Just then, the sun emerged on the horizon, and the obsidian reflected a cold, ever-shifting light. It was solemn and dignified like tombstones, and quite beautiful.
The thought that this was what she had gotten in exchange for melting down the shrine made her want to cry.
