Ch'en hung up the phone and took a sip of hot tea to calm herself down.
After considering Swire's request, she did not immediately mobilize the entire Lungmen Guard Department. Instead, she summoned Hoshiguma first. When Hoshiguma entered the office, she saw Ch'en sitting with her hands folded before her, her expression grave.
"What happened now?"
"Another large-scale armed brawl has broken out within Lungmen, but it's completely within the reasonable bounds set by the regulations..."
"Then why bother with them?"
Hoshiguma asked in confusion. Ch'en was not the sort to meddle in other people's affairs, so why was she suddenly interfering in a brawl that complied with the rules?
Seeing that Ch'en's expression remained heavy and her brows had not relaxed in the slightest, she knew this was no trivial matter.
Hoshiguma did not rush to offer her opinion.
Sure enough, Ch'en frowned as she explained the problem to Hoshiguma. "Swire just called me and asked me to lead a team to deal with this. She even used a pleading tone... She actually said, 'Please.'"
"Uh..."
Was she showing off?
Without much thought, Hoshiguma noticed what was wrong. Swire, always so reserved and proud, had actually asked Ch'en for help. It was simply unimaginable. Who knew what expression she had worn at the time?
"She subtly hinted that the cause of this dispute was something that could affect Lungmen's security."
"Hiss—"
Ch'en immediately assembled a team and led a mighty convoy of police cars to the first scene, where they found something interesting.
"Was there a battle of attack and defense here?"
This had not been a simple brawl, but an offensive and defensive battle. Both sides had exchanged blows through more than one clash, ultimately ending in the defenders' utter defeat.
"Look at these tire tracks."
