Hoshino’s trial trapped Saria and Muelsyse in an illusion until Yun Mo helped them escape. Hoshino then investigated Shang Boliang’s plans in Ursus, taking Talulah along to probe the Hermit Society and the New School, and left Demir begging Shang Boliang for help.

• Saria and Muelsyse fought through Hoshino’s illusion with Nian’s help, but Yun Mo ultimately transformed the world into an ink painting and led them out.
• Hoshino considered Shang Boliang’s plan to replace Black Snake and decided to investigate Ursus, leaving Ch'en behind to guard the shrine.
• Hoshino entered Chernobog as Delta, confronted Talulah over Rozaliya, and forced Talulah to travel through Ursus with her.
• At a poor farmstead, Hoshino learned that Shang Boliang’s disciple had urged villagers to overthrow the nobles, then waited with Talulah to meet him.
• Hoshino questioned Demit about Shang Boliang’s movement, then brought Talulah to a count’s estate and had her pose as Black Snake.
• Talulah persuaded the count to host her and Hoshino, while Hoshino revealed that she had used Talulah as bait to test the Hermit Society.

Hoshino helped Shang Boliang overthrow Black Snake’s control and ended the undead crisis in Ursus before testing a cure for Oripathy. She then traveled to Laterano with Durandal and Rita, where the monastery students began training and ventured beyond the city for the first time.

• Hoshino used Shang Boliang’s map to unleash the Annihilation Wraith across Ursus, while Shang Boliang turned public fear into support for his plans.
• Hoshino trapped Black Snake in an illusion as Shang Boliang took control of Talulah’s body and called for Ursus to unite.
• Hoshino destroyed the remaining undead across Ursus, and Shang Boliang accepted blame before vanishing in a burst of light.
• Hoshino tested Abyss Flower on Talulah and discovered that Black Abyss broke down Oripality while White Flower healed the damage, then she cured Ch'en and Patriot.
• Durandal accepted Laterano’s invitation, and Hoshino traveled there with Fiammetta and brought Rita to help at Landon Monastery.
