"You know a lot about suits."
Watching Bai Ye tie his tie with practiced ease, Texas remarked casually.
"My adoptive parents were both fashion designers." After straightening his tie, Bai Ye put on a pair of specially made leather shoes. "They used all kinds of clothes to dress me up, so suits were naturally no exception."
"I see."
Texas nodded, then suddenly said:
"Actually, you'd look better in women's clothing."
Bai Ye froze for a moment, then shook his head with a bitter smile.
"They made me wear plenty of women's clothing..."
As he spoke, Bai Ye finished arranging his outfit. Even though the suit had not been tailored for him, it fit him exceptionally well. The bulletproof material inside made his originally slender torso look more solid.
"Next are the weapons..." Texas opened the weapons locker, revealing various stored weapons inside.
"Without training, you probably can't use a gun."
Bai Ye nodded. Guns in this world were not something one could simply fire by pulling the trigger; they required Originium Arts to activate.
Blacksteel International's basic firearms theory textbook described it this way:
"The Originium Arts controlling a firearm's operation absolutely cannot be the slightest bit disordered. From the arm to the interior of the firearm, one must precisely sense the bullet's propulsion, then detonate the gun core to fire."
Without practice, Bai Ye would not choose a gun as his weapon.
"Use this."
Texas handed Bai Ye a black umbrella.
"This is...?"
Bai Ye accepted the black umbrella. After examining it carefully, he gripped the handle and twisted it hard.
"Click—"
With a faint mechanical sound, Bai Ye drew a slender sword from the black umbrella. He held the sword in his hand, then naturally adjusted his stance and grip.
Texas's gaze narrowed slightly as she stared at the sword in Bai Ye's hand.
"You've used a sword before?"
Bai Ye shook his head. The moment he held the sword, his body naturally adapted to its weight and length. All kinds of techniques and methods for wielding a sword also surfaced in his mind.
[Cold Weapon Basics] Skill Description: You have gained a preliminary understanding of these cold, sharp weapons. At the very least, you will not injure yourself while wielding them. You have also learned some basic techniques, enough to deal with ordinary people without training.
Bai Ye sheathed the sword back into the umbrella and closed the mechanism. The skill he had acquired earlier had not only poured a vast amount of knowledge into his mind, but had also granted his body instinctive reflexes.
Bai Ye knew this was not an illusion. Swordsmanship techniques and muscle memory that normally required countless repetitions of training had simply appeared within him.
"Skills...?"
Bai Ye pursed his lips. His earlier guess had been correct; the system really did have a way to make him stronger quickly.
Besides the "black umbrella," Texas also tucked two daggers into the inner side of Bai Ye's suit.
Bai Ye looked at Texas's hair and suddenly recalled a sentence he had once seen in the game files:
"Whether it is her Lupo identity, her conspicuous fur color, her fighting style, or, of course, her very name, all of it points to Miss Texas's identity as a member of the fallen Texas Family."
Bai Ye suddenly remembered something and looked at Texas.
"Do you have hair dye or a wig or something?"
Texas was briefly stunned, then realized what he meant. She picked up a lock of her hair.
"You're right. The Texas Family's hair color stands out here."
As she spoke, Texas took out various hair-dyeing tools from another cabinet. She picked up a spray can and shook it.
"Specially made dye. Shall I dye yours first?"
Bai Ye nodded. Though he lacked the Lupo ears and tail, his hair color was still far too conspicuous.
"What color?" Texas tilted her head.
"Hmm... white!"
Bai Ye did not think much about it and casually named a color. A color engraved in his DNA, indeed!
Ten minutes later, Texas, her hair likewise dyed white, stood before the mirror and tidied her slightly messy locks.
"Looks great!"
Bai Ye nodded in praise as he looked at the white-haired Texas beside him.
"It's only necessary camouflage." Texas glanced at Bai Ye, then casually pressed a soft felt hat onto his head.
"We can rest until noon, then leave the city immediately and get away from here for now."
Bai Ye nodded. After all the commotion through half the night, he was tired too and truly needed some rest.
"Don't worry. At least during the day, they won't dare act so recklessly."
Carrying the black umbrella, Bai Ye entered the room Texas had assigned to him. Though he was underground, Bai Ye knew from the clock included with the system that the first phase of the mission had been completed.
"Though the atmosphere seemed tense, it turned out to be a close call without real danger."
Bai Ye threw himself onto the bed beside him and let out a long breath.
But he understood perfectly well that if he truly encountered an enemy, what awaited him would certainly be death—even though he had already gained some enhancements.
"I have to get stronger!"
Not only to deal with the immediate crisis, but also with the dangers and enemies he might encounter in the future. This world ran deep: subsonic Originium slugs, gigantic mysterious creatures in the deep sea, and powerful people who wielded terrifying Originium Arts.
Bai Ye opened the system panel. With time so tight, there was still one item he had drawn but had yet to use.
[Class Certificate]
"Use!"
The item's instructions were extremely vague, and its note was highly suspicious, but Bai Ye still chose to use it.
The card glowing with multicolored light split into three, then slowly unfolded before Bai Ye.
"So this is what they mean by 'randomly draw three classes'?"
Bai Ye looked at the three cards before him and began examining them one by one.
