As you can see, the first volume had come to an end.

Although I'd been preparing to write this book since January, I'd only actually been writing it for less than a month. After writing a hundred thousand words, there were always a few things I wanted to say—consider it a summary of the first volume.

Thank you so much to all the readers who had made it this far, for putting up with me rambling about some nonsense.

First, about the protagonist: I'm terrible at naming things, so I just found a name for him at random.

A white night is when, in regions at a certain latitude—mid-to-high latitudes near but outside the Arctic Circle—the sun only dips a very small angle below the horizon. Because of atmospheric scattering, the sky never becomes completely dark throughout the night.

That was what the name meant. It had absolutely nothing to do with a certain hunter from Reincarnation Paradise... perhaps it was merely a coincidence, though. (Laughs.)

Then there was this volume's title. I believe many readers knew that it came from a story in the Bible. It roughly told of a journey in which Moses, prophet of the Israelites, led them through the wilderness to Mount Sinai and onward to Canaan, the land Yahweh—God—had promised them.

When I borrowed that title, I probably initially wanted to write a prequel about Bai Ye, with God's help, leading Texas out of an encirclement, out of the shadows of her past, and finally to Lungmen, where they could begin a new life.

But in the end, I didn't write it in such detail, for several reasons.

The first was naturally my writing ability. I realized I didn't have the skill to depict such an epic-like journey.

Second, I deliberately downplayed the existence of
