—Even if she could easily sever her blood ties with the family, those memories carved deep into her bones would not be forgotten as easily as a discarded badge.
The current Cellinia was not the strong, steady girl Han Fei knew—the one who had been through so much with Penguin Logistics.
The next second, Han Fei pulled the trigger. Bizon spat fire, and the bullet punched through Giuseppe's skull.
Giuseppe was dead.
Even after he had completely fallen silent and his body crumpled to the floor, disbelief still lingered on Giuseppe's face, as though he had never imagined he would die like this.
Outside the window, the voices of the Siracusans drew closer and closer.
Volume One: Chapter Fifty-Seven: How Could There Be No Bread?
The Texas Family was finished.
Giuseppe was dead, and Cellinia had no desire to take charge. It was foreseeable that the leaderless Texas Family would soon descend into chaos under the Siracusans' assault.
And Han Fei, the one responsible for all this, was happily looting bodies.
"I told you it was right not to leave this big red raid."
Hearing him, Cellinia turned to look at the man squatting beside Giuseppe's corpse and rummaging around. A question mark slowly appeared over her head.
What did "big red raid" mean?
She clearly recognized and understood every word, yet when they were put together, they became something she could not understand.
The next second, she saw Han Fei stand up with a gold mechanical watch in hand, winding it.
Cellinia was somewhat puzzled. She was certain she had never seen Giuseppe wear that watch, yet judging by Han Fei's expression, he had clearly pulled it off Giuseppe's body.
Maybe he had only bought it recently?
Unable to figure it out, Cellinia came up with a reason for Han Fei herself. Then she saw him start rummaging through the corpses of Giuseppe's personal guards.
Cellinia did not dislike Han Fei's greed for money, but considering that the Siracusans were attacking the estate, she still reminded him, "Are you sure you want to waste time on these people? I doubt they have anything valuable on them."
Without even looking up, Han Fei said, "We're already here. Might as well check."
There had only been one slot in Giuseppe's loot, and Han Fei had thought there was nothing there. Turns out, that one slot held a little red Rolex.
Together with the champagne he had found earlier, Han Fei had pulled two reds from this normal Dam run.
They were both small reds, but this was normal Dam, where the drop rate was already low. Finding two reds at once meant this run had good loot, didn't it?
In that case, he had to loot the guards too!
Cellinia brushed the hair beside her ear aside and explained, "I'm not trying to stop you. I just wanted to remind you that if you want valuables, perhaps the family vault is worth more than these people."
At that, Han Fei immediately perked up. "You have the key?"
Texas froze for a moment, then asked, "Didn't you find the key on him?"
"I really didn't."
Han Fei scratched his head. Giuseppe's loot had contained nothing but a watch. Where would there be anything else?
The guards' loot was pretty stacked, though, especially those Iron Fist capos. They were all wearing level-three sets.
Too bad they were all at zero durability.
That was the downside of bringing gear that was too good. If Han Fei were still the penniless knife runner he used to be, he could have taken another helmet-and-armor set.
Unfortunately, he had worn a level-four set to play it safe, so he could not take the guards' level-three sets.
"Is that so?"
Cellinia walked over to Giuseppe, crouched down beside him, and began searching with an expressionless face.
Before long, Cellinia withdrew her hands and frowned. "There really isn't one."
"See?"
Han Fei was not particularly surprised by that result. He had already searched him once. If it was not there, then it was not there.
"Then let's take a look in his bedroom," Cellinia suggested. "Maybe he hid the key there."
"Works for me."
Han Fei stood up, looked at Cellinia, and casually said, "Why do I feel like you care more about this than I do?"
Han Fei was interested in the Texas Family vault, but not to the point where he absolutely had to loot it.
He already knew beforehand that getting into the vault would be difficult, so he had mentally prepared himself. He would be disappointed if he could not get in, but he could accept it.
Besides, he was already loaded. He had made more than a million, enough to splurge for a while.
"I want to do something for you," Cellinia said expressionlessly. "Everything here is about to become the Siracusans' spoils anyway. Rather than give it to them, I'd rather see you take it."
"You're a real bro."
Han Fei gave Cellinia a thumbs-up. "Then lead the way. I don't know where Giuseppe's bedroom is."
"A bro?"
The corners of Cellinia's lips lifted. Her family was facing utter ruin, yet her mood was unexpectedly good.
The feeling of liberation made Cellinia feel incomparably light.
"Follow me."
Cellinia led the way, taking Han Fei toward Giuseppe's bedroom.
Outside, the sounds of battle grew louder. Texas Family members who had received the news were rushing back to the old mansion to reinforce it.
And because of that, the Siracusans had yet to break into the old mansion, allowing Han Fei to scour the Texas estate alongside Texas.
Before long, Cellinia led Han Fei into Giuseppe's bedroom.
The room was spacious, but when Han Fei looked around, the only searchable container marked with a bright highlight was a suit hanging on the coat rack.
He searched it and found only a playing card inside.
"In such a huge room, there's only one piece of clothing?"
Han Fei could hardly believe it. He circled the room once and discovered that there really was only that one suit.
That left him puzzled, and he could not help saying, "Weird. There's way too little stuff. Forget a big safe—even a small safe would be something."
Cellinia, who was searching for the key, asked, "A safe?"
"Yeah." Han Fei looked around as he spoke. "Giuseppe should have a safe or some sort of private stash, right?"
Up to this point, he had not seen a single safe this run. There was not even any bread to eat.
"I know where the safe in his bedroom is."
Cellinia slowly walked toward the luxurious double bed in the center of the room, her gray-blue eyes sweeping over the seemingly ordinary wall covered in gilded wallpaper opposite it.
Her fingertip suddenly pressed against an almost invisible seam in the wall, then gave it a gentle push.
With the faint sound of mechanical gears engaging, the entire wall suddenly sank inward, then silently slid open like a stage curtain, revealing an alloy safe embedded deep within the wall.
"The safe you wanted. But I don't know the password." Cellinia turned back to Han Fei. "It's the most advanced safe in all of Columbia. Without the password, forcing it open is almost impossible."
As soon as she finished speaking, Cellinia saw Han Fei crouching excitedly in front of the safe, muttering terms she could not understand.
"I knew normal Dam couldn't possibly have no bread. Now I get to eat."
A question mark slowly rose in Cellinia's mind.
Before she could ask, a series of beeps rang out as the lock was cracked.
Then Cellinia watched the safe, which was said to be absolutely secure, fail to last even ten seconds before Han Fei and open itself to him.
Cellinia's eyes widened. She could not imagine how Han Fei had done it.
But what came next was even more unexpected.
Han Fei rummaged through the safe for quite a while, then cursed in frustration, "Damn it, the classic bull horn. Where's the big red raid you promised? Why is it still a bull horn?!"
Volume One: Chapter Fifty-Eight: Whose Manager's Office Is Underground?
Texas could no longer suppress her confusion and asked, "What have you been talking about this whole time? I truly don't understand."
Han Fei was straightforward. He took the bull horn out of the safe and handed it to Texas. "In such a huge safe, there was only this thing."
"???"
Texas took the bull horn, her slender fingers slowly tracing its sharp curve.
The horn possessed a perfectly streamlined shape, its surface smooth as glaze and gleaming with a warm amber sheen under the light. Its tip was sharp enough to easily cut skin—as a work of art, it was indeed flawless.
But no matter how intact it was, it was still just a bull horn. How valuable could it possibly be? It was completely unworthy of being stored in a safe with such care.
Could there be some secret inside?
With that thought, Texas examined the bull horn in her hands again. She raised it toward the light, trying to uncover its secret.
But no matter how she inspected it, she could find no trace of anything unusual. Judging by how whole the horn was, there was no way anything could be hidden inside it.
Texas lowered the horn and looked at Han Fei. "There was only one bull horn in the safe?"
"As far as I'm concerned, this was the only valuable thing in there."
Han Fei did not put it too bluntly. When he looted the safe, he had followed Delta Force's game mechanics.
So to him, there had only been one bull horn inside.
Texas returned the horn to Han Fei, then crouched down to inspect the safe.
Han Fei instinctively lowered his head, his gaze landing right on her. The family's black uniform clung tightly to her figure, perfectly outlining the young woman's slender curves. Her legs, wrapped in black stockings, tensed slightly in her crouch, their soft sheen shifting beneath the light.
"So beautiful."
The words slipped from his lips before he could think.
The wolf ears atop Texas's head twitched sensitively at once, snapping toward the source of the sound.
She smoothly turned her head, and her eyes caught Han Fei's gaze precisely. In those eyes, usually calm as still water, Han Fei's reflection was now clear, carrying a trace of unexpected surprise and a ripple of emotion stirred by his blunt praise.
Their eyes met, and Han Fei, caught staring at a beautiful girl, immediately felt awkward. Without thinking, he explained, "Uh, I meant the bull horn."
Texas stared silently at Han Fei for two seconds, her gaze seeming capable of seeing through his clumsy lie.
The young woman said nothing. She raised an eyebrow ever so slightly, and a faint smile flashed through her eyes so quickly it could have been an illusion.
Before Han Fei could make another excuse, Texas turned back without hesitation and resumed inspecting the safe.
Behind her, her gray wolf tail swayed gently.
In truth, there was naturally no way the safe held only a bull horn. Texas found many documents inside: several business agreements, some land deeds in Columbia, and secret letters stamped with the family's wax seal...
Those important items were what truly deserved to be stored in this safe.
But without a doubt, they were all worthless paper to Han Fei.
Texas put the documents back into the safe. She understood why Han Fei had taken only the bull horn—he had always preferred things that could be easily converted into cash.
"Looks like there's nothing here that you like."
As Texas said this, she moved to close the safe.
Just as her fingers touched the cold metal door, Texas suddenly recalled how quickly Han Fei had unlocked it.
The safe Giuseppe had spent a fortune on had been opened by Han Fei as easily as if it had no defenses at all.
He must be very good at picking locks.
A bold idea began to take root in Texas's heart.
Click.
Texas casually shut the safe, stood up, and invited Han Fei, "Since you're so good at picking locks, do you want to try prying open the vault door?"
Han Fei was tempted, but hesitated. "Is there still time?"
The sounds of battle in the courtyard had yet to stop, but the Texas Family's defeat was only a matter of time.
Han Fei worried that if they dragged things out too long, they would end up surrounded by the Siracusans. Even if he was a shield, it would be difficult to fight a hundred people alone.
"We can't leave here until it's completely dark, when we can use the cover of night."
Texas had already made up her mind. "Those Siracusan assassins won't be able to break in anytime soon. Don't you really want to try?"
Those words immediately convinced Han Fei. He made his decision on the spot. "Then let's go!"
We're already here. If I don't loot it, am I supposed to leave it for those Siracusans?
