"So now it's turned into a prank?" Han Fei asked with a strange expression. "So why are you messing with me?"
"What do you think?"
Lemuen lightly tapped the edge of the lunch box with her fingertip, her smiling eyes reflected in its glazed surface.
"Hm?"
Han Fei raised a brow. Could she have discovered my weird little hobby?
Once that thought took root, he could no longer shake it off.
Looking at Lemuen's gentle smile, Han Fei found it increasingly plausible.
If she hadn't noticed, why would she suddenly mess with him? Sister An might have a dark side, but she wasn't the sort of girl who liked teasing people for no reason.
With that in mind, Han Fei could not help saying, "Sister An, have you ever heard a saying?"
Lemuen's finger abruptly stopped tapping the lunch box.
"What did you call me?"
When she raised her eyes, her long lashes trembled like startled butterfly wings.
"Sister An. Is that not okay?" Han Fei blinked at her.
Silence flowed through the carriage for the span of three heartbeats.
Lemuen suddenly pulled out a lemon candy from her uniform pocket. The crisp crackle of the wrapper being peeled open was especially clear.
"Whatever you want."
She pressed the translucent candy against the tip of her tongue. As sweetness spread through her mouth, her voice took on a soft, muffled quality. "Anyway, it's not like I dislike it."
Lemuen lifted her gaze, bright light rippling in her pink eyes. "So, what did you want to say?"
"There's a saying that characters with pink appearances often hide a black-hearted nature underneath," Han Fei said softly.
Lemuen suddenly laughed. Looking gently at Han Fei, she said, "So you're saying I'm black-hearted?"
Engaging the Enemy
Han Fei blinked. "Aren't you?"
