In late June, registration for the Chunin Exams began.
Sarutobi Hiruzen found Hayato two temporary teammates, one male and one female.
The boy was slightly older, around sixteen. He had dark skin, a muscular build, a square face, thick brows, big eyes, and a cheerful air about him.
Hayato recognized the girl. She was a colleague from ANBU, though they were not familiar with each other.
Hayato had originally wanted to team up with Aburame Shishin and Nara Chinai. However, Nara Chinai had unexpectedly been promoted to Chunin ahead of schedule, while Aburame Shishin had developed a physical problem. He was wrapped head to toe in white bandages covered in all sorts of seals and would likely be bedridden for quite some time.
The square-faced boy introduced himself first. "Hello, my name is Shiga Go. I specialize in taijutsu and Earth Release. Please take care of me."
"Hyuga Hayato. My specialties are the Byakugan, a Kekkei Genkai, and the Hyuga Clan's secret arts. Please take care of me."
"Nishijima Rin. I specialize in genjutsu. Please advise me."
Shiga Go smiled. "Even if we're only a temporary team, why don't we take this opportunity to have a meal together?"
"No!" Nishijima Rin flatly refused.
"Huh?! Why?" Shiga Go's smile froze.
Nishijima Rin said, "Meaningless."
Shiga Go said helplessly, "Fine. Since we have nothing to do anyway, how about we decide on a team leader? I've taken the exam twice before and have plenty of experience, so I nominate myself."
Nishijima Rin sneered. "You failed both times. If you become team leader, are we taking the exam for a fourth time next year?"
Shiga Go and Nishijima Rin apparently knew each other already. They spoke very casually.
Was Nishijima Rin's sharp tongue indiscriminate, or was it only aimed at Shiga Go?
