Liangqiu Xu suddenly sat up and found himself in an unfamiliar space.
Three mottled walls and an empty bookshelf.
No doors or windows.
Ancient-style dark red tables and chairs stood in the middle, along with a glass lamp.
Its flame was dim and yellow.
Liangqiu Xu sat on the floor without rushing to get up. Frowning, he rubbed his temples, which throbbed as if pricked by needles.
His memories surged forth, scene after scene gradually becoming clear. Liangqiu Xu sorted them out simply:
—The once-per-semester exotic beast hunting event.
—Being surrounded by a large number of exotic beasts.
—Escaping for his life, jumping into a deep pool, and losing consciousness.
—Regaining consciousness in an unfamiliar place.
What was this place?
Why was he here?
A multitude of questions sprang into Liangqiu Xu's mind in an instant. Bracing himself with both hands, he rose to his feet.
The rough stone floor was not cold to the touch. Instead, it had the warm, smooth feel of jade.
Out of habit, Liangqiu Xu assumed a defensive stance, his left hand held across his chest while his right drew the dagger strapped to his thigh.
He froze.
The dagger was still there?
Holding the dagger, Liangqiu Xu spent half an hour feeling his way around the room.
The room was sealed. Not only were there no doors or windows, there was not even a vent. Yet despite moving around for so long, he did not feel the slightest bit short of breath.
The dagger was an entry-level alloy short weapon produced by the Gongyang Clan, worth more than ten thousand star credits. Yet no matter how much strength he used, he could not scrape even a speck of white dust from the walls or chip a single splinter from the wood.
Everything was unreasonable.
