The countdown ended.
An irresistible force seized Hayato by the back of his collar, and the entire world receded, pulling away from him.
Endless darkness.
Hayato felt an unbearable tightness in his chest and could not help opening his mouth, wanting to gulp in air.
Without warning,
icy pool water poured into his mouth. Hayato's eyes flew wide, and he hurriedly covered his mouth and nose.
If water entered his lungs now, it would be over.
A samurai's body was tough after all. Hayato held his breath and looked up, seeing dim sunlight filtering down from above. He kicked his legs desperately and clawed through the water with both hands, swimming upward.
Haaah!!!
Hayato finally broke the surface.
He was still in the deep pool. That meant he had spent twenty-four hours in the alternate space, while only an instant had passed in reality.
Hayato looked around. Dozens of Savage Arrow Boars still surrounded the pool, but none dared approach.
His heart gradually sank.
Exotic beasts were divided into low, middle, and high ranks.
Each rank was further divided into A, B, and C tiers. Savage Arrow Boars were low-rank A-tier exotic beasts, the weakest kind. Their defining trait could be summed up in one word: reckless. In a herd, they even dared charge low-rank C-tier exotic beasts—though the result was usually total annihilation.
Savage Arrow Boars were not afraid of water. The only thing they could be wary of was an exotic beast hidden within the pool.
A middle-rank exotic beast?
How despairing. He had just escaped the tiger's jaws only to enter the wolf's den.
Hayato could not help thinking, Did I forget to check the almanac before leaving home?
