Kate slept restlessly. Hayato carried her from the car to the bed, yet she never woke up. Her brows remained tightly furrowed, and fine beads of sweat kept forming.

This continued all night. It was not until morning that Kate finally woke up.

The weak woman opened her eyes, saw Hayato, and her first words were simply, "Thank you." Then she flopped back down and fell sound asleep again, leaving Hayato somewhere between laughter and tears.

But her tone and gaze made Hayato feel as though she had become a different person.

Hayato rubbed his nose. Why did he seem to feel a tiny bit disappointed?

That clingy Kate had not been so bad, either.

Heh. Men.

"Eat slowly. No one's going to take it from you..."

Around two or three in the afternoon, Kate woke up. After drinking a carton of milk, Hayato had someone bring her a steak.

Kate grabbed the steak with her hands and gnawed on it directly, wolfing it down. She was completely different from the delicate little woman she had been before.

"Did I sleep for days and nights? Forget one steak—I feel like I could swallow an entire cow."

She said that, but after chewing and swallowing the whole steak, then eating two small rolls, Kate stopped. "I can't eat any more. If I put on weight, I'll be the one suffering when it's time to lose it."

"There's no need to make yourself skin and bones. Not every man likes a bony figure."

"Heh. That would be more convincing if you weren't staring at my body while saying it."

Hayato gave a disdainful smile and could not be bothered to explain.

Was he staring at her bones?

Clearly, it was that unfathomable cleavage pulling his gaze in.
