Uchiha Mikoto looked bewildered. "Why didn't Shisui tell me about any of this...?"

Wuye shook his head and gestured with a hand.
Pakura's figure appeared and vanished. Before long, two more whooshes sounded as she and Uchiha Shisui appeared.
"Mikoto."
Uchiha Shisui stood before Mikoto with a grave expression, his voice low and despondent. "Everything Lord Hokage said is true. Itachi and I have already done our best, but when the clan members saw my eyes, they stubbornly decided that I possessed power equal to Lord Hokage's. They even hoped I would control Lord Hokage..."
Uchiha Mikoto stared at him blankly. "How could they be... so insane? What has happened to them...?"
"They're too immersed in the Uchiha Clan's glory to break free," Uchiha Shisui said, shaking his head. "Yet they have no idea that Itachi and I, their greatest supports, aren't on their side at all."
"Then what if we tell them? Would the clan's ninja abandon such a terrible idea?" Uchiha Mikoto asked urgently.
"No, they won't."
Uchiha Shisui shook his head firmly. "In fact, Itachi and I have spent the past few years trying to persuade them to cast aside their pride and glory, to see just how miraculous Konoha's development has become..."
He closed his eyes. "But they remain forever immersed in their own world, clinging to that illusory glory, unable to accept the clan's decline..."
Uchiha Shisui stopped speaking.
Wuye touched Mikoto's cheek and sighed. "They're merely a group of pitiful, stubborn fools."
Uchiha Mikoto suddenly felt exhausted, a weariness rising from deep within her body.
"Shisui... We worked so hard for so long..."
She murmured, "In the end, we still couldn't change anything...?"
"At least we preserved the majority," Uchiha Shisui said solemnly.
