Of course, strictly speaking, that wasn't wrong either.
The manifestation of an Heretic Soldier soul core's power was the "Heretic Cannon": it fired off the user's entire left forearm as a Rocket Punch for long-range attacks. Setting aside the energy cost that any skill naturally had, its only hard requirement was that the user had a left hand.
This really was something anyone with a hand could do...
But Bishamonten didn't see it that way. That damn yokai was toying with her! Furious, she rose to her feet and shielded the motionless lion behind her. She dragged her massive sword one-handed, gripping a plain divine whip in the other. Rather than diminishing, her presence grew stronger, filled with resolve.
After Lion Kura had consecutively taken the Snake Sword's devastating blow head-on, followed by the Horse-Headed Demon's Great Slaughter Slash, he had already reached the end of his strength.
Then he had been caught off guard by that heavy strike just now, taking the entire Rocket Punch head-on and being blasted down from high in the air...
Naturally, his condition was far from good. The once-majestic lion now seemed to be barely clinging to life, breathing weakly and showing no response... Near the corner of his left eye, a strange bruise-like shadow had appeared, slowly spreading at an almost imperceptible rate.
This was "blight"—
At its core, it was contamination by the unclean aura brought by yokai. Put more simply, it could perhaps be viewed as a contact-borne infectious disease, one greatly feared by the Residents of the Gap.
A yokai's unclean power could erode both divine weapons and gods. As long as one was attacked by Yokai Nature's power—or even merely touched by it—erosion and assimilation could occur. Even gods needed to deal with infection carefully, much less divine weapons.
