Background & History

Hidden Leaf was founded jointly by the Senju and Uchiha clans. Over time, its Hokage faction consolidated power: the Senju were expended on battlefields under the banner of the Will of Fire, while the Uchiha were pushed to the village outskirts and confined to police duties. 6 12 15

By the Second Shinobi World War, the Senju Clan was nearly extinct. Its northwestern clan grounds had become a deserted, decaying estate, while injured Senju veterans were discarded by the village administration without medical support. 1 6 11

The village's political order collapsed after Senju Sosuke's rise. He used the failures surrounding Kushina Uzumaki's abduction and his victories on the western front to openly challenge Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzō, then forced Hiruzen to cede autonomous territory to the Senju Clan. 45 47

Hiruzen Sarutobi's Administration

Hiruzen's government relied on the Will of Fire while suppressing the founding clans that could challenge its authority. The Senju were depleted through war, and the Uchiha were politically isolated despite their role in founding the village. 6 12 15

Danzō and Root operated as a parallel covert force. Root attempted to seize Sosuke for Wood Release experimentation, sabotaged the response to Kushina's kidnapping, and later became a principal target of the Senju takeover. 12 40 63

Senju Regime

Tsunade serves as the Fifth Hokage and publicly administers village defense and reorganization. Sosuke rules from behind the Ironwood Throne as the effective regent, with the Senju Divine Palace controlling both military and political affairs. 72

After the takeover, the Barrier Team, ANBU command center, and Interrogation Department were reassigned to Senju and Uchiha personnel. The Senju Bloodline Resonance Network further gave Sosuke influence throughout the village. 66
