Oldale Town and Registration

Thanks to Gary's shameless tactics, Rosa, whom he had only just met, agreed to travel with him. Thus, the two people with the same goal began their journey through the Hoenn Region.

"Gary, where are we going next?" Now that Rosa had decided to travel with Gary, she asked him about their itinerary.

"We'll go to nearby Oldale Town first, then head to Petalburg City," Gary said after thinking for a moment.

"Huh? Why?" As it was Rosa's first time in the Hoenn Region and she was unfamiliar with the area, she asked in confusion.

"First, the nearest Pokémon Center is in Oldale Town, so we need to register there for the Hoenn League's Ever Grande Conference. Second, we have to pass through Oldale Town to get to Petalburg City anyway."

Faced with the question from his new companion Rosa, Gary thought briefly before giving his answer.

"I see!" After hearing Gary's explanation, Rosa suddenly understood. Then she looked at him with a smile. "You're really reliable, Gary."

"I guess," Gary said, feeling a little embarrassed by Rosa's praise.

"Then let's head to Oldale Town first." Since her companion Gary had already made a plan, Rosa agreed.

"Alright, then let's set off together! Our destination is Oldale Town!" Having decided on their next destination, Gary raised an arm and called out, taking the lead.

"Okay!"

After responding, Rosa quickly caught up and walked beside Gary as they headed toward Oldale Town.

On the road to Oldale Town, Rosa was curious about everything around her. She kept looking about, taking in the scenery and Pokémon that differed from those in the Unova Region.

"This Pokémon seems to be Wurmple, and it even has two different evolution lines. That's amazing!"

Using her Pokédex, Rosa identified the Pokémon that were different from those in the Unova Region one by one.

Suddenly, Rosa noticed something and wore a surprised expression as she cried out, "Gary, look! Those three Pokémon seem like a family!"

Hearing Rosa's cry, Gary followed her gaze and saw three little blue Pokémon. He recognized them at once.

"So it's these three little ones. They really are a family."

Gary said it with complete certainty.

He just didn't know whether they were the Azurill family that had taught newly started May a lesson.

"Do you know them, Gary?" Rosa asked curiously.

"They're Azurill, Marill, and Azumarill. Marill and Azumarill are Azurill's first and second evolutions."

Facing Rosa's curious gaze, Gary immediately gave her a detailed introduction.

"They really are a family!" After hearing Gary's explanation, Rosa continued looking at the three Pokémon. "They're so cute!"

"Since you like them, do you want to catch them?" Seeing that Rosa liked them, Gary reminded her.

"Um... I'd better not." After thinking for a while, Rosa shook her head.

Gary looked at Rosa in confusion.

"I think they're living happily together as a family, so there's no need for me to disturb them."

Rosa understood what Gary meant, so she shook her head again and voiced her thoughts.

"I see." Gary quickly understood after hearing Rosa's words.

Then he gave Rosa a thumbs-up and praised her, "Rosa, you're really kind-hearted!"

"Not really." Embarrassed by Gary's praise, Rosa immediately rubbed the back of her head.

"We should keep moving. It's getting late," Rosa said after her moment of embarrassment, glancing at the sky.

"Alright."

After the little incident with Azurill's family, Gary and Rosa did not linger any longer in order to make up time. They quickened their pace and hurried toward Oldale Town ahead.

Because Gary and Rosa sped up, they arrived in Oldale Town before night fully fell.

"It's already dark today. Once we finish registering, let's stay here for the night."

Standing in Oldale Town, Gary looked at the completely darkened sky and made the suggestion to Rosa beside him.

"Okay."

After Rosa agreed, the two followed the town's signs to the Oldale Town Pokémon Center.

After arriving at the Pokémon Center, Gary led Rosa straight to Nurse Joy's station in the lobby.

When Nurse Joy saw Gary and Rosa, she greeted them with a smile. "Hello, you two. How can I help you?"

"Hello, Nurse Joy. We'd like to register for the Hoenn League's Ever Grande Conference. Please help us with the registration."

In response to Nurse Joy's question, Gary immediately explained what they needed.

"Certainly, please wait a moment." After hearing Gary's request, Nurse Joy began operating the computer in front of her to register Gary and Rosa for the Ever Grande Conference.

After a series of operations, Nurse Joy said to Gary and Rosa, "Please present your identification."

Hearing this, Gary and Rosa each took out the Pokédex they had received from Professor Birch not long ago and handed them to Nurse Joy.

After taking Gary and Rosa's Pokédexes, Nurse Joy continued with the registration.

A few minutes later, Nurse Joy completed Gary and Rosa's registration.

"Gary and Gary, your registration for the Ever Grande Conference has been completed. Here are your Pokédexes. Please keep them safe."

After completing the registration, Nurse Joy returned the Pokédexes to Gary and Rosa. She also handed them materials about the Hoenn Region and the Ever Grande Conference, along with Badge Cases.

"Thank you, Nurse Joy." After accepting the items Nurse Joy handed them, Gary and Rosa did not forget to thank her.

"You're welcome."

After registering for the Ever Grande Conference, Gary and May booked a room at the Pokémon Center and stayed there for the night.

The next morning, Gary and Rosa got up and set out, leaving Oldale Town and heading toward Petalburg City.

Of course, before heading to Petalburg City, Gary and the others also visited the ancient murals outside Oldale Town and took some photos.

As for those ruins, because Ash and his group had gotten involved, they had been opened to the public for researchers to study.

As for why Gary took those photos, they were for his grandfather, Professor Oak, who loved research.
