The List Was Only a Smokescreen

Lie Yang lifted his teacup and took a light sip.

"So this was just a list."

"You already knew Konoha wouldn't agree?"

"I did."

Fugaku placed the paper back on the table.

"Then why did you write it down?"

Lie Yang did not answer immediately.

He reached out and tapped the tabletop, his tone suddenly shifting.

"Compared to the items on that list, I want another treasure of the Uchiha Clan even more."

Fugaku's gaze turned icy at once.

"What?"

Lie Yang looked at him and spoke each word clearly.

"The Uchiha Stone Tablet passed down through generations."

Fugaku's expression darkened instantly.

That stone tablet carried the secrets of the Uchiha Clan's origins and ancient truths.

It was the clan's most vital treasure.

It could never be taken out of the clan compound, much less handed over to Lie Yang, who had defected.

"The stone tablet cannot be given to you."

Fugaku's voice was utterly resolute.

"Forget taking it out of the compound. No outsider is qualified to even touch it."

"I am not an outsider."

"You have already defected."

Fugaku stared at Lie Yang.

"You may refuse to acknowledge Konoha, but you cannot deny that you once belonged to the Uchiha."

"The stone tablet carries the roots of the entire clan. It is not one person's private possession."

Lie Yang did not argue.

Yet Fugaku could not calm himself.

He did not understand why Lie Yang had suddenly set his sights on the stone tablet.

Even less did he understand how much Lie Yang truly knew.

"What do you want to see on the stone tablet?"

Fugaku asked in a low voice.

"That is not something you should ask."

"You do not even understand the stone tablet's secrets. Why do you insist on having it?"

"I have my reasons."
