"Don't even think of torturing me. We will win. We will bring endless calamity upon this world. To hell with the Natives, and to hell with those who stand their ground! You will all be destroyed. Only we can endure forever. You'll never break me. I'll be back."
As he spoke, boundless madness filled the man's eyes.
Patriarch Ye had restrained him, yet somehow he suddenly broke free of her bindings and spread his arms.
A scorching light formed inside him. It swiftly engulfed his entire body and erupted into heat more than a hundred times fiercer than that of the Scorching Heat Forbidden Land.
From within the terrifying flames, his voice rang out again, wild with madness.
"You'll get nothing from me. I'll wait for you down below. I'll watch you die. I'll watch you be cut to pieces."
As the last word left his mouth, he began turning to ash from the top of his head down.
The ashes scattered on the wind.
Patriarch Ye and the others had retreated so far that they could not hear what was said near Qin An, but they could see the man turn to ash.
Thinking something had gone wrong, they hurried over. When they drew close, Qin An raised a hand to stop them.
"It's fine," Qin An said, shaking his head. "Nothing serious happened."
"He killed himself."
Even Qin An had not expected the man to take his own life so decisively.
He had unleashed that scorching heat too quickly. From beginning to end, less than the blink of an eye had passed before he turned to ash.
Qin An rubbed his chin, lost in thought.
