Qin An frowned slightly. "What do you mean, steward? Has something happened?"
The steward hesitated, then sighed. "The household head hasn't managed this property for a long time, so he wasn't aware of the details. He temporarily sold this land to someone long ago—a fairly well-known expert in the area."
Qin An's heart sank. "In that case, we'll take another plot."
He had only just arrived and did not want to get tangled up in trouble.
He especially did not want to provoke a so-called expert.
If even the steward was this wary, the man's strength was easy to imagine. Qin An had no wish to invite trouble.
The steward nodded at once. "Please wait a moment, Mr. Qin. I'll discuss it with the household head and be right back. I'm sorry for the trouble."
This was not his decision to make. The land was a gift the household head had personally bestowed on Qin An, and the steward did not dare change it on his own. He could only ask for the household head's instructions.
After the steward left, Qin An stood where he was and waited quietly.
Before long, the steward opened the door and came out, but helplessness showed on his face, as though there was something he found difficult to say.
"What did the household head say?" Qin An asked.
The steward sighed. "He said that land is too important to you. Your very survival is at stake. It isn't easy for people newly arrived in this world to establish themselves, so he chose that land after careful consideration."
Careful consideration? And it was that important to them?
Qin An pondered this. "What exactly is going on? Didn't you say an expert was guarding it? Are you willing to
