Fang Shu was taken aback.

He was not unfamiliar with the term. In the many immortal romance tales circulating among the common folk, it was bound to appear, and the matter was always described in the most extravagant terms—bliss beyond bliss, far surpassing the pleasures of the flesh.

More importantly, soul communion concerned the souls and had nothing to do with the physical body. Naturally, it would not harm the body's primal yang essence.

To be honest, after Fang Shu had cultivated the Life-and-Death Yin-Yang Lesser Bliss Rhapsody and found himself constrained by the Yang Lock, he had studied this matter quite extensively.

Yet he had discovered that soul communion was not something a minor Qi Refinement cultivator like him could perform. Only Foundation Establishment immortals could normally merge their souls with another's and enjoy its unique delights.

Below Foundation Establishment, immortals were not incapable of soul communion, but there were two problems. First, soul communion below Foundation Establishment resembled more of a spell—a secret art—which usually only immortals versed in bedroom arts could master.

Put simply, there was a threshold.

Second, during soul communion, both parties' souls would lay themselves bare to each other. Every thought and idea could be seen. If they were Essence Refinement immortals, whose souls had yet to solidify, they could easily become muddled together and end up as madmen.

Although Qi Refinement immortals had already condensed their souls and could project yin spirits, their souls were still far too immature and weak to conceal their memories well. Should one party harbor ill intent, they could easily dig out the other's secrets from their soul.

Even without malicious intent, soul communion at the Qi Refinement stage could easily leave traces of the other party within one's mind, branding them deeply.

It was said
