Yet Fang Shu had not expected this lot to be so overbearing.
When the newcomers saw Fang Shu still inside the quiet room rather than coming out to greet them, each of them grew even more imperious.
"Hey, Daoist! Get out here and work already!"
At that moment, the stewards outside finally rushed forward in alarm, placing themselves between the young men and women in an attempt to keep Fang Shu apart from them.
"Do not act rashly, do not act rashly. This is the quiet room of Hu's direct disciple."
"Young masters and young ladies, please calm down. Hu's direct disciple has not been at our Beast Hall for long."
For some reason, once the Beast Hall stewards revealed Fang Shu's identity, the young men and women paused slightly, only for even deeper anger to appear on their faces a moment later.
"Fine, Steward. You dare use a direct disciple to pressure us?"
"So what if he is a direct disciple? He is merely one among several hundred disciples in the palace. Everyone here has elder brothers or sisters who are direct disciples!"
"Exactly! Even a direct disciple cannot necessarily achieve Golden Core!"
One of them even pulled a whip from his sleeve and lashed one of the stewards directly, producing a series of sharp cracks.
The sight left Fang Shu utterly astonished once more.
One had to know that every steward in the Beast Hall was at least an inner sect disciple—and not an ordinary one at that. Seniority, merit, and backing were all indispensable; without any one of them, one could not serve as a steward in such a grand hall.
And there was
