Behind them.
On the three ships of the Garrote Pirate Crew.
Gus was watching the Black Pearl ahead as it raised its sails and began to slowly accelerate.
He snarled, "Trying to run only now? Isn't that a little too late?"
"Have Third chase after them. Bite down hard and don't let go!"
Beside him, First Mate Laman was likewise watching the Black Pearl flee. He said, "There are thirty people aboard the Undertow Pirate Crew's ship. Should we send some extra hands to Third's ship?"
The Garrote Pirate Crew had roughly two hundred men in total.
Of their three ships, two were twin-masted vessels, each around thirty meters long.
Both of those ships had been converted from armed merchant vessels.
The third was a single-masted fast ship, slightly larger than Charles's Black Pearl.
There were more than thirty men on the single-masted ship, while the remaining men were divided evenly between the two twin-masted ships.
Gus considered it, then said, "Have a few men jump over to Third's ship."
"Too many won't do either. If there are too many, they won't be able to catch up."
"Yes!"
First Mate Laman immediately went to make the arrangements.
Before long, several Tide Warriors and several hardened pirates from the two twin-masted ships climbed up their masts.
They did not even need to lay planks between the ships. They simply swung over to the single-masted ship on the ropes strung from the masts.
Their cries rang through the air.
"Woohoo!"
Soon, the single-masted ship that had originally sailed behind the two twin-masted vessels turned and began pursuing the Black Pearl.
The Garrote Pirate Crew's single-masted vessel was also a fast ship.
Its sails were raised, and it swiftly overtook the two twin-masted ships.
