After this ship had picked up Kerry and several lucky pirates who had wisely jumped into the sea,
Kerry did not dare let it approach the battlefield again.
Kerry thought, Unless the Garrote Pirate Crew utterly defeats the Undertow Pirate Crew, I'll go up and take my own ship back.
He had already lost two ships, along with most of the pirates aboard them.
The situation on the battlefield changed far too quickly.
From afar, Kerry watched the Garrote Pirate Crew's pirates charge aboard the Black Pearl.
He was still cheering them on. "Charge! Hack these bastards to death!"
But the tide of battle soon turned.
The Garrote Pirate Crew failed to take the Undertow Pirate Crew's ship and were instead driven back.
At that point, no matter how stupid Kerry was, he knew things had gone badly.
"Damn it, Gus, you idiot!"
"You really got us killed! You couldn't even beat the Undertow Pirate Crew, yet you dared chase them!"
"You've ruined us! My two ships—how the hell am I supposed to get them back?!"
Kerry cursed furiously in his heart.
"No, we can't stay here. Once the Undertow Pirate Crew finishes dealing with Gus, they'll come deal with me."
Thinking of this, Kerry shouted, "Quick! Stop fucking staring!"
"Raise the sails! We're leaving—move!"
"We can't stay here! We have to escape before they finish off the Garrote Pirate Crew, or we'll die here too!"
Every pirate aboard the Cutlass Gang's last remaining ship wished he could split himself in two.
They hurriedly got the sails ready.
Fortunately, after picking up Kerry earlier, they had been circling the outer edge and had not dared come close at all.
Kerry now felt deeply relieved by his earlier decision.
