However, half-elves had once held low status and had no standing to speak of in these cities, so they had little interest in them.
They preferred the plains, where resources were abundant and vast manpower could be amassed.
In the war against the Giants, the Avenor Elven Court was the main force of the war effort.
The other elven kingdom was the Lotheran Royal Court.
If Avenor was a multi-racial feudal militarist state,
then the Lotheran Royal Court was a conservative tribal populist state.
Several centuries ago, when the immense Elven Empire was finally bled dry time and again by the Giant Empire and collapsed like an enfeebled giant, it split into two nations.
Some pure-blooded elves believed that Giants were a race with whom coexistence was impossible. This was because of conflicting interests, and also because of the hatred left behind by the long years of war.
In the end, only one side could remain between them and the Giants.
Since pure-blooded elves alone could not win the war against the Giants, they would bring more races into this war.
Thus, those open-minded elves broke away and established the Avenor Elven Court.
