A Single Chapter: Asking for Votes in October
Senior Brother had never made a push for the rankings. Before it ended, I wanted to make one attempt and strive for the annual top three.
Over the next few days, I would work hard to make up for missed updates. So far this month, I had written 240,000 characters. I would try my best to reach 300,000 by the end of the month, though the later parts were all climax arcs and harder to write. I wasn't sure whether I could make it, but I would do my best and ensure the quality.
I hadn't actually slacked off this month. My wife hurt her back, so I took a day off. I also spent several days discussing the ending of my old book and ideas for the new one, quietly tinkering with several openings for the new book to discuss with my editor. Altogether, I had written over twenty thousand discarded words for the new book. Openings were especially draining...
Preparing for the new book in advance was partly to keep my hands warmed up and in good form, and partly so that after Senior Brother ended, I could spend my rest time thinking through a new story and settling on a general direction.
The new book would definitely still be lighthearted and funny reading, an immortal-heroic light comedy. But I wouldn't repeat Senior Brother's formula, so everyone could rest assured.
We had never really pushed for the rankings. Other than at the beginning and end of the month, I rarely asked for votes. One reason was that I didn't want my dear readers to spend money; another was that I felt asking for votes too often would affect your reading.
