Background

Yue Ling was born in Hundred Flowers Village and awakened the Wonder-Silk Heavenly Chrysanthemum and Love-Sickness Heartbreak Red at age six. Born with full soul power, he was considered a rare genius in the village. His parents and the village chief had previously determined that his chrysanthemum martial soul would follow a pure assault path rather than control, support, or defense. 1

His village was annihilated by an organized group of Evil Soul Masters led by a Titled Douluo. Yue Ling’s parents sacrificed themselves to secure his escape into the Star Dou Great Forest, leaving him with the Hundred Flowers Record. He became the sole known survivor of Hundred Flowers Village and dedicated himself to gaining the strength to avenge his family and eradicate Evil Soul Masters. 1 3

While fleeing, Yue Ling was cornered by a five-ring Evil Soul Master. Zhang Lexuan rescued him, defeated the attacker, and permitted Yue Ling to personally kill the unconscious man. 2 Elder Xuan later confirmed the destruction of the village and accepted Yue Ling as his closed-door disciple after setting three conditions: Yue Ling had to swear lifelong protection of Shrek, join the Shrek Inspection Team, and become Elder Xuan’s disciple.
