Zhao Wuji slowly rose to his feet, his clenched fists cracking loudly as killing intent surged from his eyes almost tangibly.
"If I don't tear you lot into parts today, then my surname isn't Zhao!"
He took a deep breath, and earthen-yellow Soul Power surged once more.
"Sixth..."
Before he could finish, a dark green figure appeared silently at his side.
Zhao Wuji's pupils shrank abruptly as he whipped his head around.
Dugu Bo stood three steps away, his hands clasped behind his back. His green eyes fixed coldly on Zhao Wuji like those of a venomous snake, a faintly mocking curve on his lips.
"Zhao Wuji, what did you just say... you were going to tear apart?"
Zhao Wuji swallowed hard, cold sweat instantly sliding down his forehead.
"Po... Poison Douluo?"
His mind raced, but he simply could not understand.
Why would a Titled Douluo appear on a street in the dead of night and protect a mere Soul Ancestor brat?
Dugu Bo sneered and leisurely raised a hand, gathering a wisp of dark green poison mist.
"I'll ask you one more time."
He took a step forward. The pressure of a Titled Douluo crashed down like a mountain, and the blue stone slabs beneath Zhao Wuji's feet instantly cracked.
"Who were you going to tear apart?"
Zhao Wuji's face turned livid. His lips trembled for a long while before he finally forced out a sentence.
"A misunderstanding... It was all a misunderstanding..."
Dugu Bo narrowed his eyes, dark green poison mist coiling around him like a venomous snake waiting to strike.
He leisurely took another step forward, and the pressure of a Titled Douluo bore down like a mountain.
"A misunderstanding?"
A cold curve tugged at Dugu Bo's lips. "A Soul Sage using Martial Soul Avatar against a Soul Ancestor is a misunderstanding?"
The veins on Zhao Wuji's forehead throbbed as he cursed Ma Hongjun eight hundred times in his heart.
That little bastard could have provoked anyone, yet he had to provoke someone connected to Poison Douluo!
He took a deep breath and forced out a smile uglier than crying.
"Your Excellency Poison Douluo, I... I truly didn't know he was your man. If I had known, even if I had a hundred times the courage, I wouldn't have dared..."
"Oh?"
Dugu Bo raised a brow. "So what you mean is, if he weren't my man, you could bully him however you pleased?"
"No, no..."
Zhao Wuji's tongue tied itself in knots, cold sweat streaming down his cheeks. "What I mean is..."
"Enough. Cut the crap."
Ye Feng walked over from the side, looked Zhao Wuji up and down at his bear-like build, and grinned. "Weren't you acting pretty arrogant just now? Didn't you say you were going to tear me into parts? Why are you cowering now?"
Zhao Wuji's face shifted between green and white. His fists cracked as they clenched, but he did not dare say a single word.
He understood now. He had no choice but to swallow today's loss.
Dugu Bo immediately understood. His figure abruptly vanished from where he stood.
Zhao Wuji only felt a fierce gust of wind strike from his left and instinctively tried to raise his arm to block it.
But how could a Soul Sage possibly react to the speed of a Titled Douluo?
Crack!
A crisp sound rang out, accompanied by the sound of shattering bone.
Zhao Wuji's left arm bent at a grotesque angle. Jagged white bone pierced through flesh, and blood instantly soaked half his sleeve red.
"Ah—!" Zhao Wuji let out a shrill scream and staggered backward, crashing into the ruins behind him as broken stones clattered down.
He lowered his head to stare at his bent arm. His face was white as paper, his lips trembled, and large beads of cold sweat rolled down his forehead.
"Th-this..."
"Breaking one of your arms is already letting you off lightly." At some point, Dugu Bo had returned to his original spot, hands behind his back. His tone was as calm as if he were commenting on the weather. "If I still had my temper from my younger days, you would already be a corpse."
Zhao Wuji gritted his teeth and endured the agonizing pain as he looked at Dugu Bo. "Poison Douluo... What, what did you do to me?"
He could feel a chill poison spreading into his body through the wound. Wherever it passed, his skin took on a strange dark green hue, and his veins writhed beneath it like earthworms.
"Nothing much. Just a little gift."
Dugu Bo raised his hand, a wisp of dark green poison mist gathering at his fingertips. "Green Phosphor Snake Poison. For seven days, you'll feel as though ants are gnawing at every bone in your body. On the seventh day, the poison will invade your bone marrow. By then..."
He paused, a meaningful smile curling his lips. "You'll begin rotting from the gaps in your bones, bit by bit, until you become a puddle of pus."
Zhao Wuji's face instantly changed from white to green. His legs gave way, and he nearly dropped to his knees.
"Po-Poison Douluo... I, I was wrong... Please show mercy..."
His voice trembled, and tears even welled up in his eyes. It had not been easy for him to cultivate to this level. If he died just like that at the hands of a Poison Douluo, it would be far too humiliating.
Yet Dugu Bo did not even look at him. He turned to Ye Feng instead. "Young Master, are you satisfied with how this was handled?"
Ye Feng rubbed his chin, walked over to Zhao Wuji, crouched down, and looked at him with a smiling face. "Old Zhao, when you get back, remember to tell your Dean Flender something. Tell him that I, the Karma Fire Phoenix, welcome him to come seek revenge anytime."
Zhao Wuji gritted his teeth and did not dare make a sound, only nodding desperately.
"And as for that fat chicken, I was originally going to let it go since he's already crippled. But if you people aren't convinced, come at me. I'll see it through to the end."
Ye Feng stood and jerked his chin at Shui Bing'er. "Let's go. Time to head back and sleep."
Shui Bing'er glanced at him, then at the severed arm on the ground and Zhao Wuji's deathly pale face. The corner of her lips lifted almost imperceptibly before she turned and followed Ye Feng.
After walking side by side for a few steps, Shui Bing'er said softly, "What you said just now... are you really not afraid of Shrek—"
Dugu Bo remained where he was, watching the two receding figures. He stroked his beard, then lowered his head to glance at Zhao Wuji, curled into a ball on the ground, and gave a dry laugh.
"Zhao Wuji, go back and tell Flender that if I see anyone from Shrek causing trouble for the Young Master again, it won't be as simple as breaking an arm."
With that, his figure flashed and vanished into the night.
Zhao Wuji lay on the ground, staring up at the pitch-black sky. The excruciating pain from his left arm nearly made him pass out.
He could feel the cold poison moving through his body. Wherever it passed, his bones hurt as though needles were stabbing them.
He gritted his teeth and struggled to his feet, clutching his broken arm with his remaining right hand as he limped step by step toward Shrek.
Under the moonlight, his hunched silhouette looked like a stray dog.
Shrek Academy, in a shabby courtyard.
Flender sat behind a broken wooden table, holding a jug of cheap liquor as he sipped it with narrowed eyes.
Suddenly, a set of heavy footsteps sounded outside the courtyard. Then, a blood-covered figure staggered inside.
"Old Flender... Old Flender..."
Flender abruptly looked up and saw Zhao Wuji staggering into the courtyard.
His left arm was bent at a grotesque angle, half his body soaked in blood, and not a trace of color remained on his face.
