History

Reassignment Crisis

The Education Committee transferred Su Ge into the team with authority to alter its training and personnel arrangements, while revoking most of Qin Ming’s authority. Qin Ming and the original members regarded the decision as an unacceptable intrusion into their established team structure. 60

Yu Tianheng, Dugu Yan, and the other members initially planned to use their family connections to pressure the academy into restoring Qin Ming and removing Su Ge. Ye Lingling alone withheld support for the campaign, choosing to observe Su Ge first. 61

Su Ge personally confronted the team at its training grounds. After Deng Jilin subdued Qin Ming, Su Ge defeated Yu Tianheng, the Shi brothers, and Dugu Yan in a single exchange, demonstrating why the academy had granted him exceptional authority. 61 62

Consolidation Under Su Ge

Su Ge formally dismissed Qin Ming from Imperial Dou and gave the members a conditional opportunity to remain: they had to prove their value to him through their performance. 69

Yu Tianheng and Dugu Yan eventually led the original roster in accepting Su Ge as captain. In return, Su Ge promised that obedient members would retain their places and share in the glory of a future tournament championship. 76

After Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong joined, the supporting roster expanded to ten members alongside Su Ge. Su Ge trained the new roster with himself as its absolute core, frequently facing all ten members alone to build their coordination and familiarity with one another’s abilities. 77

The advanced-academy friendly competition gave the team an opportunity to test this coordination against different martial-soul specialties. Its victories also elevated Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s reputation and reinforced the members’ confidence in Su Ge. After defeating Kamikaze and Skywater, Su Ge delegated the remaining friendly matches to Xiao Wu and the others under Deng Jilin’s supervision, then departed to obtain his sixth Soul Ring. 79 95 97

Touring Challenge

Before the Soul Master Tournament, the team undertook a touring challenge through Great Soul Arenas under Deng Jilin’s leadership. By its arrival in Silves City, the tour’s final city, every supporting member had reached Soul Ancestor rank, and the team maintained a perfect record against Soul Ancestor teams. Deng arranged substantial rewards through the arena and local powers to attract suitable opponents for their continued training. 115 116

Yu Tianheng sought a precise comparison between his strength and Su Ge’s. Deng explained that the difference could not be measured by Soul Power or martial-soul quality alone: even the current level-78 Deng would have been unable to defeat Su Ge when Su Ge was around level 45. The revelation shocked the team despite its recent successes, and Dugu Yan redirected Yu Tianheng’s attention to the approaching match. 115

Su Ge visited the Silves City Great Soul Arena partly to check on the team and partly to investigate forces monitoring it. He identified observers from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Spirit Hall, and the Speed Clan. After the team quickly defeated a Gold Soul Badge Soul Ancestor squad, he reviewed its performance and left to follow the Speed Clan observer. 116 117

Silves City Attack

While Su Ge pursued the observer, two Soul Saints approached the team’s hotel. Deng ordered the members inside and led the attackers away from the city, relying on Dugu Bo and hidden Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect guards to protect the hotel. Ning Rongrong organized an investigation and requested additional sect support, while the other members turned to cultivation in response to their inability to confront such enemies directly. 118

The two Soul Saints—the Lin Family Head and Dean Zhang—had been coerced into acting and were primarily tasked with delaying Deng. At the hotel, Dugu Bo defeated a separate force consisting of one Soul Saint, four Soul Emperors, and several Soul Kings. He suspected that these attackers were expendable distractions and entrusted the cleanup to Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect personnel. 118 120

Outside the city, Su Ge discovered that the observer had deliberately led him into an ambush. The attacking group openly identified itself with the Clear Sky Sect. The operation against Su Ge thus unfolded alongside the diversionary attacks on the team and its protectors. 120

Soul Master Tournament Entry

As Heaven Dou Royal Academy’s main team, Imperial Dou held a seeded place that advanced directly to the Grand Finals, bypassing the preliminaries and promotion matches. Nevertheless, Emperor Xue Ye arranged for it to attend the Heaven Dou opening ceremony and enter first, presenting the squad as a public demonstration of imperial strength. 126 127

The members received individually tailored ceremonial uniforms and traveled by carriage to the Great Soul Arena. Yu Tianheng called on the team to pursue the championship, while Su Ge’s position at the front, Soul Emperor cultivation, and reputation made him the principal focus of the crowd. 126 127

Spirit Hall had separately negotiated a restriction on Su Ge’s future tournament participation, arguing that his overwhelming strength would undermine the competition. He remained eligible for the current tournament and accepted the offered compensation of cultivation resources and a Soul Bone exceeding fifty thousand years. 111

Grand Finals in Spirit City

The team arrived in Spirit City ahead of the other Heaven Dou competitors and stayed in a large detached villa supplied by Spirit Hall, with dedicated guards. It followed Shrek Academy’s success in the preliminaries and promotion matches and discussed Tang San’s growing reputation. Su Ge dismissed rumors that Tang San might defeat him and stated that he would personally assess him in the Grand Finals. 131

Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun visited the villa over Zhu Zhuqing’s separation from her Star Luo obligations. After defeating Dai Weisi, Su Ge warned Zhu Zhuyun that further conflict would be settled on the competition stage and openly challenged the Star Luo emperor’s authority over Zhu Zhuqing. He subsequently instructed Imperial Dou to prepare seriously for a possible Star Luo match. Meng Shenji worried that the trained team might inflict excessive injuries, while Deng assured him that Su Ge could control the situation. 132 133

Imperial Dou received a first-round bye, then defeated Thunderclap Academy in the second round and Skywater Academy in the third. Su Ge handled both matches alone, using the Thunderclap match to publicly reveal his red sixth Soul Ring. 134 135 136 138

For the six-to-three round against New Godwind Academy, Su Ge fielded an active seven-person formation rather than fighting alone from the outset. His teammates eliminated the opposing blockers and Huo Wu before withdrawing behind the Shi brothers, leaving him to confront Feng Xiaotian’s enhanced wind-and-fire technique. Su Ge overwhelmed Feng Xiaotian with wind, thunder, speed, and a direct punch. 140 141

The team subsequently faced Spirit Hall in the final-stage competition after Hu Liena volunteered her squad as the first challenger. Both sides deployed teams whose members were at least Soul Ancestors. Yan charged toward Su Ge while Hu Liena began activating her Soul Rings. 144

Championship and Institutional Impact

Heaven Dou Royal Academy ultimately won the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. News of the championship spread from Spirit City and brought the academy a period of flourishing growth. 158

Powerful nobles from the empire’s kingdoms and duchies began sending their children to the academy after the victory. This strengthened the Heaven Dou royal family’s influence over territories that had previously exercised considerable autonomy. Although the academy still primarily admitted noble children rather than commoners on a large scale, the championship helped initiate broader changes. 158

Training and Tactics

Su Ge as the Absolute Core

Su Ge structures the team around his individual strength, directing allies to contain enemy formations while he confronts an opposing captain or decisive technique alone. Against Kamikaze Academy, the team restrained the other members so Su Ge could fight Feng Xiaotian without interference. 93 94

  • He uses one-versus-ten sparring sessions to force members to adapt their coordination under pressure. 77
  • He assigns tactics according to opposing academy specialties, such as using prior control-system countermeasures against Plant Academy. 80
  • He may order the team not to intervene when he intends to conceal his own abilities or break an enemy formation personally. 91
  • Members are expected to prove loyalty through conduct before receiving Su Ge’s full trust and resources. 93
  • The expanded supporting roster provides substitutes and allows flexible selections for different opponents. 77
  • When he leaves to cultivate or obtain Soul Rings, he delegates competition duties to the members under Deng Jilin’s supervision. 80 97
  • Against Thunderclap and Skywater in the Grand Finals, he has his teammates withdraw or enters alone, reserving the decisive fighting for himself. 135 138

Battlefield Awareness and Support Targeting

Su Ge evaluates the members after matches, identifying tactical errors as well as successful actions. Following the Silves City victory, he criticized Ning Rongrong for failing to monitor the entire battlefield: an opposing assault-type fighter had feinted to create an opening for an agility attacker, and the Shi brothers’ intervention prevented her elimination. He separately praised Zhu Zhuqing for swiftly removing the enemy support fighter, which enabled the team to finish the match quickly. 117

The New Godwind match demonstrated a coordinated formation built around these principles. Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Osler attacked the opposing rear line from different directions under Ning Rongrong’s buffs. The Shi brothers protected Rongrong, while Su Ge anchored the front and remained ready to confront the enemy’s decisive attack. After the mobile attackers completed their task, Su Ge recalled them behind the defensive pair before facing Feng Xiaotian. 140 141

Medicinal Support

Su Ge arranged for Yang Wudi to oversee medicinal-herb use and develop medicinal meals for the team. 70 93

  • Improved medicinal cuisine incorporating neutralized Whale Rubber substantially increases the members’ cultivation speed and physical development. 101
  • Su Ge treats these resources as rewards for loyalty rather than unconditional benefits. 93 101
  • Zhu Zhuqing reports reaching level 45 with the aid of medicinal meals. Cultivation beside Su Ge further accelerates her progress through a faint connection between their martial souls, although their compatibility remains insufficient for a Martial Soul Fusion Skill. 112
  • Ye Lingling receives an Immortal Herb, while Dugu Yan receives no comparable herb beyond Su Ge’s earlier assistance with detoxifying her poison. Su Ge deliberately uses this unequal distribution to signal his concerns to Dugu Bo. 117
  • Su Ge distinguishes between members he regards as personally loyal and clan heirs such as Yu Tianheng, whose enduring attachment to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan limits his trust. 117

Protection and Supervision

Deng Jilin manages lineups during the arena tour, selects participants according to the opposing roster, and negotiates suitable challenges. His responsibilities also include escorting and protecting the team when Su Ge is absent. 115 116 117

  • During the Silves City attack, Deng removes the two Soul Saint attackers from the city to keep the battle away from his companions. 118
  • Dugu Bo and hidden Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect guards protect the hotel while Deng is occupied. 118 120
  • Ning Rongrong uses her sect’s personnel to investigate threats, request reinforcements, and send intelligence back to the sect. 118
  • In Spirit City, Su Ge arranges for Ye Tianxin and Yang Wudi to join his protective network, with Ye Tianxin supporting Dugu Bo and Deng Jilin and Yang Wudi watching over Xiao Wu and the others. 138

The competition was scheduled for approximately seven days, with team battles during the first five days and individual sparring during the final two. Relationships

  • Su Ge — Captain, trainer, and absolute tactical core; the roster’s continued membership is conditional on proving loyalty and usefulness. He treats the academy arrangement as mutually beneficial while reserving deeper trust for selected allies. 69 76 93 117
  • Yu Tianheng — Former captain who initially resisted Su Ge, then formally accepted his leadership. His clan allegiance and relationship with Dugu Yan remain factors in Su Ge’s assessment of the team’s future loyalties. 61 76 117
  • Dugu Yan — Former vice-captain who joined the initial resistance but later acknowledged Su Ge as captain. Su Ge’s withholding of Immortal Herb benefits from her serves as an implicit warning to Dugu Bo. 61 76 117
  • Qin Ming — Former team leader whose authority was revoked; Su Ge later dismissed him from Imperial Dou entirely. 60 69
  • Deng Jilin — Su Ge’s ally and administrator; he subdued Qin Ming during the takeover and was later assigned to oversee the team’s match activity. Leads the arena tour, selects lineups, negotiates opponents, and protects the members against outside threats. He subsequently becomes a Soul Douluo with a hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring. 61 80 115 116 118 164
  • Heaven Dou Royal Academy Education Committee — Granted Su Ge exceptional authority over the team and relies on it to pursue the Soul Master Tournament championship. Meng Shenji later expresses concern that its improved strength could cause excessive injuries, but accepts Deng’s assurances about Su Ge’s control. 60 133
  • Yang Wudi — Oversees medicinal-herb applications and supports the team’s cultivation resources. Also joins the arrangements to protect Xiao Wu and the others in Spirit City. 70 101 138
  • Dugu Bo — Hidden protector during the arena tour; defeats the force attacking the team’s Silves City hotel. His granddaughter’s position and relationship with Yu Tianheng complicate Su Ge’s evaluation of his loyalty. 117 118 120
  • Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect — Through Ning Rongrong, provides intelligence, hidden guards, and reinforcements. Su Ge obtains its full support, including its extensive intelligence network. 111 118 120
  • Ye Tianxin — Healing ally brought to Spirit City to support Dugu Bo as part of Su Ge’s preparations to protect the team during a larger confrontation. 138
  • Heaven Dou Royal Family — Uses the team as a representative of imperial prestige. Emperor Xue Ye arranges its prominent opening-ceremony entrance, and the championship subsequently strengthens royal influence through increased noble enrollment at the academy. 126 158
  • Spirit Hall — Hosts the Grand Finals and supplies the team’s Spirit City villa and guards. Attempts to recruit Su Ge and restrict his future tournament participation; its own team later challenges Imperial Dou in the final stage. 111 131 144
  • Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan — Connected to the team through Yu Tianheng and sends observers to its touring matches. Yu Tianheng’s membership contributes to the clan’s initial reluctance to immediately support Yu Xiaogang’s plans against Su Ge. 95 117 127
  • Shrek Academy — Defeated in the friendly competition and later becomes a principal tournament rival. Tang San’s rise attracts the team’s attention, while Yu Xiaogang and allied forces secretly plot against Su Ge. 87 127 131
  • Star Luo Royal Academy Team — Potential opponent tied to Zhu Zhuqing’s family and succession conflicts. Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun’s visit to Imperial Dou’s villa leads Su Ge to warn his members to prepare seriously for a confrontation. 132 133

Trivia

  • The team’s original members were angered not merely by Su Ge’s appointment, but by the academy’s decision to let him freely alter both training plans and personnel arrangements. 60
  • Ye Lingling was the only original member identified as refusing to join the campaign to pressure the academy against Su Ge. 61
  • At the friendly match, the team entered behind Su Ge as the host academy’s representative squad, drawing widespread attention from rival academies and spectators. 79
  • The ten opponents in Su Ge’s training sessions are the members other than himself; the expanded organization therefore includes eleven people when its captain is counted. 77
  • Su Ge’s friendly-match attire uses an elegant black-and-gold design instead of the academy’s standard goose-yellow uniform. 79
  • The tournament uniforms are primarily pale gold, with “Heaven Dou” embroidered over the left breast and seven silver stars on the back. Individual designs also reflect each member’s martial soul and combat role; Su Ge’s features a gilded Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff. 126
  • Before the New Godwind match, spectators briefly reacted as though Su Ge bringing six teammates was unfair, then remembered that seven-person team combat was the tournament’s normal format. Their reaction reflected how accustomed they had become to his fighting entire teams alone. 140
  • Despite receiving direct entry to the Grand Finals, the team closely followed the preliminary and promotion stages to study future opponents. 131
