Runes in the Eyes

When Benjamin realized what had happened, the scene became extremely awkward for a moment.

The mages were conducting a new rune array experiment, a highly scientific and rigorous exploration. Yet just as they activated the array, Benjamin popped out of the magical radiance with a bang, opened his eyes, and wore the same bewildered expression as they did.

How was he supposed to explain this?

"Hey, wasn't I in my own room? Why did I end up here?" he asked the system inwardly.

"Perfectly normal," the system said casually. "You moved within the elemental plane, changing your coordinates. Add in the strange array these people made, and you got projected to this point."

"...Forget it."

Faced with a roomful of mages staring at him, Benjamin no longer knew what to say. He couldn't exactly tell them that he had just come out of the elemental plane, could he? They would slice him up for research.

But in a situation like this, someone had to say something.

"Headmaster Benjamin, is that really you?" Fortunately, someone broke the awkward silence first. A mage to the left rubbed his eyes and asked, perhaps thinking the array had caused an illusion.

"Of course it's really me." Benjamin cleared his throat a few times, nodded, and said, "Um... what kind of array are you researching? I was meditating in my room, and then you suddenly transported me here."

The mages nearby exchanged glances. One of them stepped forward and said, "We discovered that runes may have an extremely close connection with the legendary elemental plane. Therefore, we wanted to try using an array to draw over some matter from the elemental plane for research. That was our first attempt just now."

"I see..."

Benjamin nodded and walked out of the array.
