The Leaking Mage

Benjamin spent several days crossing countless lands before finally bringing the servants back to the academy.

Even if they had been settled in another country, Grant might have had people from The Church assassinate them to prevent the secret from leaking. Besides, the academy needed some general laborers anyway; a few more would not matter.

—This was probably the only thing Benjamin could do for the Riser Family now.

He could not rush straight to The Church and avenge Claude by challenging Grant to a duel. In fact, judging by Claude's wishes, even if it were to avenge him, he would not have wanted to see his two sons slaughtering each other.

Yet Benjamin was destined to become Grant's enemy.

Still, aside from that, he did a few other things, fulfilling a small part of his responsibility as one of the Riser Family's remaining members.

"Using the existing intelligence posts, do your best to find an old woman in her sixties or seventies within the Hori Kingdom... or in every country," Benjamin instructed the people from the Dark Division. "I'll produce a portrait. Search carefully based on it, but be warned: this old woman has a very peculiar temperament. If you find any leads, do not approach her. Just notify me."

The person in charge nodded, then asked, "This elderly woman... is she a mage?"

"No..." Benjamin frowned and chose his words carefully. "I don't know what she is, exactly. In any case, don't worry about that. Go investigate first."

"As you command."

The person in charge bowed and withdrew.

Benjamin remained in the room, stroking his chin with a thoughtful expression.

Of the Riser Family members still alive, aside from the two brothers and their mother, who had practically been driven out of the family, only Old
