The Birth of a Drama Queen

"Pardon my rudeness. I'm Hansen, leader of Shadow. I heard you were one of Mage Finch's people, yet you made a special trip to Lante City today. I wonder what important matter you wished to tell me?"

As Benjamin pondered, the person in charge of the organization entered the reception room and spoke.

He was a short, fat middle-aged mage. He sat down heavily in a chair, his bloated belly protruding, with a perpetually sleazy air between his brows and eyes—perhaps Benjamin was biased from the outset, but he truly found the man's face detestable.

Naturally, however, he had no intention of showing it.

"Call me Grant." Benjamin smiled politely and said, "I heard... you have plans to establish a school?"

"What? Mage Finch is interested in this too?"

Benjamin nodded. "Mage Finch was very pleased to hear of it. As you know, since the Magic Academy was founded, it has had a tremendous impact on mage circles in every nation. And a place like Frieden should have established its own mage school long ago. Therefore, as long as you demonstrate your potential to us, we can support you on every level."

At once, Mage Hansen's face lit up with surprise and delight.

"Really? Mage Finch is willing to support us as well?"

Benjamin smiled and nodded.

"Then thank you very much!" The other man was clearly somewhat excited. As he spoke, he directly pulled out the books hidden beneath the table and handed them to Benjamin. "Come, take a good look. This is our potential!"

"This is..." Benjamin pretended not to understand.

"Our newly developed meditation method." Mage Hansen waggled his brows and said, "Don't underestimate this book, sir. What's written inside is something that can change the entire mage world—runes!"
