Two days later.
"Are you the envoy from the Magic Academy? To have earned Headmaster Benjamin's trust at such a young age, you must be quite an extraordinary figure."
At the entrance to Glory's royal palace, Benjamin, disguised as an ordinary Academy envoy, was welcomed inside by a tall, skinny middle-aged man.
It was not that he had become addicted to pretending to be someone else. He had simply discovered that whenever he appeared in his true identity, people became extremely distant around him, as though they feared the title "Headmaster Benjamin." They were guarded from head to toe, which made things inconvenient for Benjamin as well.
So, he simply disguised himself as an unknown nobody. Other people's attitudes toward him became far more natural.
"May I ask who you are, sir...?"
The other man smiled and replied, "My name is Spencer. I am His Majesty's senior adviser. I heard that the Academy's envoy would arrive today, so I came specially to welcome you."
Benjamin could not help but stir inwardly.
In this world's official hierarchy, a senior adviser was quite a high-ranking official. Just as the king had said, Caritas's officials were not very welcoming toward the Magic Academy now. Yet a high-ranking official was displaying such friendliness toward him—there was something of a dagger hidden behind that smile.
"I see. Then I'll have to trouble you, sir." Thinking this, he smiled as well and followed the man into the palace.
Benjamin was no stranger to Glory's royal palace. After passing through several corridors, he slowly entered the main hall. The hall was packed with Caritas officials. There were a few familiar faces among them, but even more people Benjamin had never seen before.
The moment Benjamin entered, the officials, who had been talking incessantly, fell silent as one.
