As they continued to rise in altitude, the higher Benjamin flew, the lower the temperature dropped. He had no choice but to summon more warm water vapor to shield them from the biting wind, yet even so, Dick still shivered uncontrollably, his face pale.
This cold clearly defied the laws of nature.
Benjamin could no longer remember how long they had been flying. All he could see were snowflakes drifting down from the sky and mountain walls piled high with snow. Looking upward and extending his senses with the water elements, all he could see was the mountaintop hidden in the clouds, as though it would never end.
At that moment, he finally began to understand what was so terrifying about this mountain range.
—An endless mountain wall, like a colossal barrier stretching directly to the very end of the firmament.
However, Benjamin possessed a scientific view of the universe. He knew the earth was round; if they kept flying upward, they could even leave the atmosphere. There was no such thing as "the end of the firmament."
Thus, he did not give up halfway through, but continued this attempt. His mental strength could still hold out for about another day, not to mention the restorative potions he carried. This time, he was dead set on uncovering the secrets of this continent.
