"Filthy heretics, what have you done to the king?"
Grant spoke, his face as cold as if he had just been hauled from a frozen lake. Not far ahead of him, several strangely dressed figures lay sprawled on the ground. Most had already been pierced through the chest by threads of light and killed. Only an old man remained, bent over as he clutched the wound in his abdomen, barely drawing his last breath.
Besides them and Grant, quite a few priests stood within the main hall. As one, the priests looked at the people lying on the ground, the disgust in their eyes impossible to conceal.
"Nothing. We merely imparted some of the goddess's true meaning to His Majesty." Yet as the last survivor, the wounded old man merely raised his head, gave Grant a sinister chuckle, and answered.
"Enough! There is only one supreme god in this world." A priest beside him immediately retorted in a loud voice. "Ignorant heathens, not only have you willingly fallen into depravity and followed the Deep Sea Siren, you even dared set your hands on God's territory. Your crimes deserve nothing less than death!"
The old man, however, was like a fighting cock released from its cage. He suddenly came alive, glaring wide-eyed as he said, "A pack of sinners who worship the Tainted Light dare speak recklessly of the goddess? Let me tell you, one day, the goddess's punishment will descend upon every last one of you!"
