"Let me go! You... you've all been deceived by the elders!"
The moment they were brought into the village, the girl with her hands bound behind her back suddenly began struggling violently. As though something had provoked her, she glared furiously at several guards and desperately mobilized her mental power, trying to fight back.
However, strange black wooden rings had been placed over both her and the boy's heads, etched with dense, tiny characters. Their mental power was like ants with their exit blocked off, unable to crawl out no matter how they tried.
Punisher's Ring... They knew of this thing, but this was their first time experiencing its terror firsthand.
"Shut your mouths!" A guard immediately stepped forward and kicked the girl to the ground, saying impatiently, "Traitor! Not only did you betray the goddess's expectations, you even brought enemies onto the island. What right do you have to speak?"
The girl landed in the mud, her body curling up in pain. The boy grew anxious and immediately moved toward his sister, only to be knocked to the ground by another guard's punch.
When villagers passing by saw this scene, they hurriedly took detours or hid back inside their homes, secretly watching everything happening at the village entrance.
"Those two children... aren't they Harlow's..."
"Shh! Keep your voice down. Don't say that name. Have you forgotten what the elders said before? They were cast out by the goddess long ago. They no longer belong to our island."
"But why have those two returned? I thought the elders had dealt with them long ago..."
The fearful yet curious villagers whispered among themselves. Though their words could not reach the siblings' ears, those veiled, piercing gazes made them feel as though they had fallen into an ice cellar in that instant.
