Before the shells could fall, Benjamin led two squads of water mages rapidly into the air and struck together. They had little time and could only do their utmost, condensing several thousand layers of ice mirrors over the Rune Defense Array.
Yet the instant the layers of ice mirrors took shape, the Holy Light Cannon Shell crashed directly into them!
Holy Light erupted at that moment, so solid it seemed to possess physical form, burning through the ice mirrors before it in the blink of an eye. Then, Holy Light like a tidal wave poured down and slammed viciously against the Rune Defense Array. At once, a deafening hum resounded throughout the city!
The blazing light was so piercing that even the Kingdom Army outside the city had to close their eyes, while chaos erupted within the city. Benjamin and the mages hurriedly put on sunglasses, barely managing to see anything.
"Looks like... we blocked it?"
Benjamin frowned deeply, holding his breath as he stared closely at the point where the Rune Defense Array met the Holy Light.
The instant the Holy Light struck, the barrier trembled violently. The contact surface twisted severely, like an iron plate kneaded into ruin. Several cracks gradually spread beneath the tremendous impact, crawling farther and multiplying... Yet when the barrier reached the limit of what it could endure, the shell's power suddenly began to falter as well. The Holy Light started to dissipate bit by bit, while the Rune Defense Array's self-repairing ability regained the upper hand.
The free elements drifting around the area answered the runes' summons and poured continuously into the barrier, swiftly halting the spread of the cracks.
Seeing this, the other mages could not help showing traces of delight.
