Background
Calamity was awarded to Lin Fan by the system alongside Sky Splitter, his telekinetic companion divine weapon. Like all companion divine weapons, it possesses infinite growth, is indestructible, cannot be used by others without the host's permission, and can forcibly return to its host across any distance. 1
Lin Fan discovered its evolvable nature after receiving it: Calamity grows by consuming metallic substances. Early attempts revealed the immense scale of its requirements; fifteen tons of scrap metal raised its growth by only 0.05%, though the process also improved Lin Fan's handling compatibility with the weapon. 2 4
Its first major evolution occurred after it consumed a ZG-003 alloy vault door, changing it from a Rank 0 Embryo into a Rank 1 Divine Weapon. The completed evolution sent restorative and strengthening energy into Lin Fan, healing his severe injuries and greatly enhancing his physical capabilities. 20 21
Appearance
Calamity is a massive, pitch-black, long-handled great scythe with a crescent-shaped inner blade. Its overwhelming weight can damage ordinary structures merely by materializing. 2 4
- Initially had a dull, matte-black blade; faint purple luster began appearing after substantial metal consumption. 11
- Following its first evolution, complex dark-purple patterns covered the blade. 20 21
- During higher-rank transitions, it releases oppressive black-purple or deep-purple light and auras associated with lightning and spatial distortion. 35 62
- At Fourth Order, its blade is described as abyss-black beneath near-tangible silver spatial ripples. 88
Abilities & Skills
Metal Devouring and Evolution
Calamity absorbs metallic substances, breaking them down into energy that it incorporates into its blade. Metal purity and grade substantially affect the efficiency of its growth. 2 4 9
- Can consume ordinary construction steel, industrial carbon steel, refined alloys, military-grade alloys, and metal ore veins. 4 6 9 20 66
- Devouring metal generally leaves behind grayish-white or reddish-brown residue. 4 6
- Higher-quality materials provide far greater returns: less than ten kilograms of A3 alloy supplied 0.1% growth, while 48 tons of industrial carbon steel provided 0.2%. 6 9
- Its appetite scales dramatically with rank; 27 million tons of B5 Steel-Splitting Essence produced only 0.00675% growth at Tier 3. 66
- At higher stages, it projects a black-purple devouring domain that liquefies metal over a wide area. 35 51 62
Energy Feedback
While consuming metal, Calamity transfers energy to Lin Fan through its hilt. 4
- Early feedback replenishes Lin Fan's stamina, allowing him to continue wielding the weapon despite its extreme mass. 4
- Major growth and rank transitions produce far more violent feedback, reconstructing Lin Fan's body, strengthening his bones, and raising his cultivation. 21 27 51 62
- Its Tier 3 transition directly contributed to Lin Fan's breakthrough to the Stellar Level. 62
Weight Compatibility and Physical Attributes
Calamity's weight increases as it devours metal, but its compatibility with Lin Fan rises in parallel, allowing him to wield it naturally despite its mass. 4 11
- At 0.07% growth, it weighed 3,005 kg. 4
- At 9.17% growth, it weighed 4,800 kg. 11
- Tier 1 raised its physical weight to 50,000 kg while granting Lin Fan 100% weight compatibility. 21
- Its Tier 3 transition brought its weight to 1,000 tons. 62
- At Fourth Order, its listed base weight attribute reached 500,000 tons. 88
- It gains escalating sharpness, weight, and hardness with each rank transition. 21 37 88
Calamity Killing Art
Calamity carries an inherited secret-art line centered on direct destruction, lightning, and space. 21 38
- First Level — Mountain Collapse — A force-generation technique that channels the user's entire body through the scythe to create destructive oscillation and internal damage. Lin Fan initially struggled to produce its true vibration effect. 27 28
- Second Level — Thunder Collapse — Integrates the Lightning Law for explosive destructive force and the Space Law for spatial interference and lockdown. Lin Fan eventually mastered it through two years of practice by hundreds of True Self clones. 38 52 70
- Third Level — Mie Chen — Extracted after Calamity reached Tier 3; Lin Fan later assigned hundreds of True Self clones to cultivate it. 63 89
- Fourth Level — Annihilation — A Space Law technique whose core concept is absolute spatial lockdown, imprisoning targets before reducing them to nothingness with a single strike. 88 89
Law Inscription
Calamity can engrave Law Runes, an ability first unlocked at Tier 1 and formally developed through later evolutions. 21
- Tier 3 formally activated Lightning Law inscription. 62
- Fourth Order unlocked Space Law inscription. 88
- At Fourth Order, it can inscribe Lightning and Space Law secret patterns. 88
Relationships
- Lin Fan — Host and sole authorized wielder. Calamity returns to him regardless of distance and continuously feeds energy back to strengthen him. 1 4 21
- Sky Splitter — Lin Fan's other companion divine weapon. Calamity represents head-on destruction and killing, while Sky Splitter specializes in speed, light-shadow techniques, and covert killing; their Law concepts complement one another. 1 38
- System — Granted Calamity to Lin Fan as part of his initial rewards. 1
