Nature and Inheritance

A Martial Soul is a Soul Master’s innate foundation and a hereditary expression of bloodline. While Soul Power, Soul Rings, and Soul Bones can be acquired and can reshape one’s destiny, the Martial Soul is initially inherited rather than chosen. Xia Mu, for example, inherited both his parents’ Martial Souls and awakened as a twin-Martial-Soul user. 1 47

Martial Souls are awakened through a Spirit Hall ceremony. Xia Mu’s awakening initially produced a formless-bladed sword with a jade-green dragon-mouth hilt; the blade manifests only when supplied with Soul Power. 1

Some Martial Souls possess an inherent inheritance. Xia Mu identifies the Light-Hiding Sword as carrying its own Martial Soul Inheritance, while its sealed sword spirit is the Radiant Sacred Dragon. 2 1

Body Martial Souls manifest as parts of the user’s body rather than external weapons or beasts. Their long-term potential is linked to location: forms nearer to vital organs possess greater growth potential than peripheral forms such as arm bones. 2

Second Awakening

A Body Martial Soul can undergo repeated secondary awakenings. Xia Mu concludes that these awakenings require vitality and blood as fuel, with Soul Power serving as the medium. Whale Glue, medicinal baths, Soul Bones, immortal herbs, and extreme bodily tempering can support the process. 2 7

• Bronze-grade Awakening — Raises Martial Soul quality and grants a substantial combat increase; Xia Feng’s Bronze awakening increased his combat strength by roughly 60%. 8
