In July 2006, something else happened: Angelina was successfully elected Speaker of the new Crimean Parliament!
Although she had essentially controlled the entire parliament, and even all of Crimea, from top to bottom when she had been deputy speaker, that had ultimately lacked proper legitimacy, making certain matters inconvenient to handle.
Now things were different. She had formally taken office as Speaker, and actual administrative authority over the Crimean Peninsula had been transferred from the presidential administration to the parliament, placing Crimea under a parliamentary system.
Crimea was a tiny place to begin with, small in area and population. Whether it was managed by a president or by parliament made little practical difference.
After several years of Wang Ye's efforts, the Crimean Peninsula had truly become the jewel of Eastern Europe!
The whole peninsula was bursting with vitality. New buildings rose one after another, tourists arrived in an endless stream, and with the establishment of the free-trade port, foreign investment had begun to surge as well.
It was no exaggeration to say that Simferopol and Yalta had become gathering places for Eastern Europe's wealthy!
Under Wang Ye's lead, Angelina represented the Crimean Peninsula in signing visa-free travel agreements with every member state of the Economic Mutual Assistance Organization.
Though it might not have seemed important, it was another enormous boost to Crimea's tourism and trade!
From then on, tourists from those countries only needed to bring their passports and wallets, buy a plane ticket, and fly directly to Crimea. It was incredibly convenient.
This would bring even more people to Crimea for sightseeing and shopping.
With more tourists and a growing economy, coupled with Crimea's naturally advantageous location and economic policies, foreign capital had no reason not to come invest.
Some foreign investors had originally planned to invest in Russia
