Amid everyone's eager anticipation, Steve Jobs strode onto the stage.
Without saying a word, he first walked to one corner of the stage, picked up a bottle of water, and took a sip. The giant screen behind him lit up, displaying a black Apple logo that gleamed.
Steve Jobs set down the bottle of mineral water and took a few steps forward, stopping short of center stage.
Then he began, "I've been looking forward to this day for three years..."
Cheers and applause erupted from Apple fans below the stage, though nobody knew exactly what he had been looking forward to...
Only Wang Ye and Cook exchanged knowing smiles. They both knew that the Apple phone project had been launched in secret three years earlier, which was why Steve Jobs said he had been waiting for three years.
After the audience quieted down, Steve Jobs spoke again:
"Every once in a while, a revolutionary product comes along and changes everything.
"Yet...
"Apple once...
"Or perhaps I should put it this way: for a person to take part in creating one revolutionary product in an entire lifetime is already fortunate enough.
"But Apple, and I personally, have been very fortunate to introduce several such products to you over the years.
"In 1984, we introduced the Macintosh. It not only changed Apple, but changed the entire computer industry..."
Thunderous applause rose from the audience once again.
Steve Jobs remained utterly calm and continued at an unhurried pace:
"In 2001, we released the first iPod. It not only changed the way we listened to music, but changed the entire music industry!
"Today, we're going to release three such products..."
He placed particular emphasis on the words "three products" and held up three fingers.
