Qian Xiaole sat among a crowd of fellow corporate workhorses, feeling utterly exhausted.
The other workhorses had gotten plenty of rest over the May Day holiday. She alone had worked ten days straight, and this was day eleven.
Forget humans-even AI couldn't take this kind of workload, could it?
She was completely numb.
She checked the time. A little past eleven. Maybe she should go eat now? She really had no energy to work. Perhaps lunch would give her a boost.
With that thought, Qian Xiaole messaged Li Ting, and the two of them went to knock on Jiang Yixin's office door.
"Boss Jiang, want to get lunch?" Qian Xiaole poked her head inside.
"Now?" Jiang Yixin glanced at the time in the bottom-right corner of her screen. "It's only eleven twenty."
"At twelve, it'll be the lunch rush. Every place will have a line. Now's the perfect time," Qian Xiaole argued confidently. Li Ting said nothing, merely smiling behind her.
"I can't," Jiang Yixin said. "I have a product briefing with Boss Han and President Su at eleven thirty. You two go ahead."
The two lunch buddies turned away in disappointment, only to suddenly hear Jiang Yixin call out behind them.
"Hey, wait for me! I just noticed President Su moved the meeting to two this afternoon." Jiang Yixin hurried after them.
With no meeting to attend, lunch with her buddies naturally took priority.
The three chatted as they headed toward the elevator.
"Why was the meeting suddenly moved?" Qian Xiaole asked.
"I saw some people from the district government come over just now. Boss Han and President Su both went to meet them. It might have been a last-minute arrangement," Li Ting said.
That made sense. The other two nodded.
Outside the office building, the sunshine was lovely.
