Lu Mingzhou was still talking on the other end of the phone. "...Five printed copies should be enough. I've already put together the digital version, so we can send that to them when the time comes-"
"Hold on," Han Luyi interrupted him. "What matchmaking?"
Lu Mingzhou chuckled. "A fundraising matchmaking event. Speed dating. A dozen or so projects, about ten investment firms, eight minutes per round. Just like speed dating. Did you really think I was setting you up with a girlfriend?"
"...Could you stop saying things that scare the hell out of me?"
"Next Thursday afternoon. Just dress normally."
Han Luyi ended the call with his little finger. Su Niannian had already returned to normal and was eating chicken wings with her head lowered.
"Lu wants me to attend a pitch event."
"Mm, I heard." Su Niannian sounded calm as she picked up a slice of lotus root with her chopsticks.
October 8, the first working day after the National Day holiday, ten in the morning.
Han Luyi followed Lu Mingzhou onto the seventeenth floor of an office building. A leading fund called Deep Flow Capital had converted part of its own offices into an event space.
Around the corner from the corridor was an enormous open space, with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides and several white walls in the middle. A projector screen cycled through the day's project list. Fifteen company names were arranged from top to bottom, with Source Code Technology in ninth place. The decor was simple and looked inexpensive, but once you sat down, you knew it wasn't cheap.
Two rows of long tables faced each other in the center, leaving an aisle just wide enough to squeeze through sideways. Each seat had a bottle of water, an A4 project introduction card, and a pen.
