Little Amiya fell silent.
To be honest, most of her hatred had dissipated the moment she learned the attackers were dead.
On top of that, her parents were still lying in hospital beds. Other than studying, all her remaining energy had gone into caring for them.
She had never imagined there was a mastermind behind it all, nor that there were such complicated reasons involved.
Ethnic hatred, sustaining war through war, politics, military affairs—those terms were far too vague for her.
What would Leon do at a time like this?
Sensing Amiya's gaze, Leon answered her.
"Twice."
He held up two fingers.
"I'll beat him up once for you now. When you grow strong enough, you can beat him up yourself once to make up for it."
"Okay."
Amiya could already follow Leon's train of thought.
And so, Theresis's fate was decided just like that.
"Sir, isn't this a little arbitrary?"
At those words, his expression twisted for once.
What kind of logic was that? So he had to take two beatings?
"But revenge is all about putting your mind at ease, isn't it? Don't try to argue. Reason is on my side now."
Leon floated into the air.
He felt that being willing to reason this much was already a rebellion against Viltrum's education.
"Do your best, strongest swordsman."
Realizing there was no turning things around, Theresis took a deep breath and gripped his sword.
The absurdity still lingered in his heart as he swept his gaze across the conference hall.
It was said that this place had been built so spacious because, when the various Royal Courts held discussions here in the past, disagreements were sometimes settled through duels.
That was why such a large space had been deliberately left open.
Whenever he asked his teacher Niezsche about that legend, the man would merely smile and brush it aside.
But now, it was genuinely proving useful before Theresis's eyes.
"You will die alone upon the throne beneath the western hall of the Sacred King Council."
He recalled the Cyclops's prophecy.
Could the prophecy that I would die on a throne mean now? Here?
But this isn't the right place either.
Just as cold sweat slid down Theresis's temple and he was about to make his move, a voice stopped them.
"Wait."
Outside the door, Niezsche, the Sarkaz God of War, and Duq'arael, lord of the Blood Court, approached side by side.
Seeing the unusually dressed pair, Leon's eyes lit up.
"Wow~ More dessert."
Your Sword Is Pretty Good
"What happened here, General? Your Highness?"
Niezsche was the one who asked, his gaze sweeping across the two people who ought to have been in charge here.
Just moments ago, he had received a report from the Corpse Eater guards saying they had seen a vehicle flying toward the tower.
Her Highness Theresa, who was aboard, had even waved at them.
He had assumed her Oripathy had spread to her brain, but upon arriving, he found that the siblings really had gathered here.
Could they be negotiating peace?
Niezsche did not believe it.
The military operation had only been finalized the day before yesterday, and his disciple was not someone who would play both sides.
Yet Theresa merely smiled at his words.
Theresis did not answer him either, only staring fixedly at the white-clad young man ahead.
The war-sensitive Corpse Eater sensed the smell of gunpowder in the air.
He immediately drifted over to Theresis's side.
Meanwhile, the silent Blood Demon Lord turned into blood and flashed over to stand before the headless descendant.
The Blood Demons' vitality was truly terrifying. Even with his head crushed, the spilled blood was still trying to find its body.
Spread across the floor, it resembled a hand searching aimlessly before finally exhausting itself.
"Who did this?"
His tone was icy, and the blood-red cloak behind him fluttered like flames.
Though he had not been the first choice, being assigned to the General's side was enough to show how highly he had been regarded.
In truth, there was no need to ask.
The Lord had long smelled the blood aura of his own kind on Leon.
Before the Demon King and the General, that was the bottom line he had set for his own sanity.
But Leon had no interest in sparing his feelings.
"His issue was that while I was running and doing arm stretches, he suddenly ran into my hand."
"Want to come experience it yourself too?"
The scene fell silent. Theresa and Kal'tsit led Amiya and the Doctor farther away.
The hollow of Niezsche's withered-branch staff filled with a halo as he summoned his attendant spirit-banner soldiers.
Theresis also raised a hand to stop the restless Manfred.
"Stand down. You should be able to see that this is not a battle you can take part in."
Then, just as the tension reached its peak, the little cat puffed up and hissed.
"I regret that I must stain this place with the filthy blood of an alien race."
His lips curled back, revealing terrifying fangs.
With the speed and power capable of personally plucking off the head of a Leithanien Elector,
His body, wrapped in blood mist, shot forward toward Leon.
Whoosh!
Leon floated up and tilted ninety degrees, parallel to the ground, dodging the sweeping claw strike.
The Intelligent Atoms propelled him like a fish through water, causing the second claw strike to miss as well.
The Blood Demon Lord was already growing irritated and confused. He mobilized all the blood in his body to strengthen his flesh.
The third claw strike tore through the air, aiming straight for Leon's head.
Unfortunately, Leon had already figured out his approximate level.
He continued floating in a reclining position and simply let the claw strike hit him.
Crack!
Amid flying sparks, his clothes seemed to have torn a little, while all five of the Blood Demon Lord's fingers snapped at once.
A single hand capable of tearing through the outer armor of a mobile battleship was now no different from a mortal punching steel.
He stared blankly at the bones protruding from his fingers.
The next second, he vomited blood.
Leon had thrown a straight punch perpendicular to the ground, piercing through his abdomen and emerging from his back.
Righting his posture, Leon held the Blood Demon Lord aloft on his fist, still impaled through the stomach.
"You're quite a bit stronger than that last guy."
He flung away the gritting Blood Demon Lord and faced the next wave of enemies.
Niezsche, King of the Corpse Eaters and God of War, went all out immediately.
The Blood Demon Lord's fate was proof enough, and he had not dared underestimate Leon from the very beginning.
The instant he moved, he caught the lingering scent of gunpowder on the young man.
Its weight might have surpassed the Royal Court's thousands of years.
"Attack!"
His withered-branch staff swung, and a spell of life and death's cycle enveloped Leon.
On the ground in the distance, the Blood Demon Lord, stuffing his intestines back into his abdomen, endured the pain and cast a spell as well, trying to control Leon's blood.
Clang!
At the same time, several spirit-banner soldiers wielding azure greatswords hacked at Leon.
Yet the spells received no response at all. They did not even seem to lock onto him, as though Leon did not exist.
And the countless swords pressed against Leon's body could not penetrate even an inch. Trembling, they shattered with a thunderous crash.
The fighting spirit of the attackers instantly drained by more than half.
Niezsche believed that this combination would have made even those ancient legends bleed, yet Leon remained completely unharmed.
What could possibly hurt him?
Then, a burst of hurried footsteps rang out.
Theresis, one of the Sarkaz's Six Heroes, his cloak billowing and his longsword trailing red light, charged forth.
The hero entered the fray!
Under the immense pressure, he seemed to have broken through his limits. Aiming for Leon's neck, he unleashed a world-shaking slash.
The moment it struck, soaring sword energy blasted the spirit-banner soldiers away, even forcing Niezsche back several meters.
Everyone's eyes focused on the center of the battlefield as they held their breath and awaited the result.
Several seconds later, when the light faded, Theresis revealed a weary smile.
He had finally made this godlike being bleed.
Reflected in his eyes was Leon, steadily biting down on his sword, a red line cut across the corner of his mouth.
Theresis released his sword and smiled in relief.
He had nothing left.
But Leon did not see it that way.
This injury was pretty serious. In his previous life, he would have hurriedly sprayed watermelon frost on it, afraid it would turn into an ulcer.
His insides really were much more fragile than his exterior.
Still, Theresis had raised his slashing resistance by another notch, so it was a profit.
"Your sword is pretty good."
Leon opened his mouth and released the blade, touching the corner of his mouth as he spoke.
After that, everything fell into place naturally.
Although everyone in Babel knew Leon would only help Amiya, to outsiders, he was Babel's pillar of support.
