With a slight twist, he tore off the arm that had cost hundreds of millions to build.
His calculations had failed once again.
Before absolute violence, he felt powerless for the first time.
The second fist was torn off.
When he tried to stand, the power components were crushed beneath a foot.
Luthor had actually hidden Kryptonite throughout the armor, but clearly, his opponent was unaffected by it.
Leon ripped off the last piece of armor along with its wires. Luthor could see that Leon's fingers were nearly crushing the metal plate flat where he exerted force.
Now, his only protection seemed to be his mouth.
"This is not what a hero would do..."
"I'm not a hero."
Leon grabbed his collar and lifted him up.
"Even if I die, I'll come back."
"I know. After all, this is DC."
What was DC?
Luthor had no time to pursue that question, because the brain that could be called a treasure of the world had already been crushed by Leon.
Throwing aside the headless corpse, Leon shook his hand and prepared to welcome an uninvited guest.
He had heard her just now.
Sure enough, a woman's voice came from behind him.
"You just... killed him?"
Leon turned around and looked at the woman with slightly wavy long black hair.
Diana Prince, Wonder Woman. As Leon vaguely recalled, she did not have a moral obsession with killing and was not particularly opposed to it.
The only problem was that, in theory, the Luthor Leon had killed was currently a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record.
Should he fight her? Or explain himself?
Leon hovered in the air first.
Diana first glanced at the corpse and confirmed his identity.
Lex Luthor. Her friend Steve had introduced him as a military partner.
But she personally did not like him. She had heard his rhetoric about the threat posed by superhumans.
Arrogant, conceited...
Perhaps there was something worth listening to in it, but Luthor's actions had never reflected that.
If he had time to target Superman, why not spend more time benefiting humanity together?
Her gaze returned to Leon.
Diana was not fooled by his youthful face. She could smell gunpowder and blood on him.
The blessing in her bloodline continuously warned her of this.
It did not belong only to Luthor. It came from the magical side, from something deeper.
It was not something that could have accumulated over one or ten years. He was somewhat like her annoying brother.
The question now was whether he was an enemy or a friend.
Holding the Sword of Hephaestus, she made a flourish with the blade.
"Can someone explain what happened here?"
You Said It, I'm Not Alone
(I wrote the ending of the previous chapter too hastily last night. Looking at it today, it really didn't fit the later arrangement, so I made some minor revisions.)
Not bad. Athena's wisdom was at work.
Although Leon desperately wanted to fight and see what Wonder Woman was made of, Zod still needed to be dealt with.
He opened with a quip as usual:
"My lady, I think I can explain this. There was a mosquito on Luthor's head just now..."
"I remember there are no mosquitoes here during the day."
Did Zeus's sense of humor not come with her blessing?
Leon grumbled inwardly and casually caught the golden rope Diana threw at him.
The Lasso of Truth. This truly was the quickest way.
"It won't harm you. It only makes lies impossible to hide."
Diana tried her best to make her tone sound sincere.
She had already witnessed Leon's strength while flying high above. Unless necessary, she did not want to make another enemy like him.
"Why did you kill Luthor?"
"Because that shiny bald head of his kept making me want to squeeze it and see how it felt."
Leon's casual answer made Diana frown deeply.
Damn it, the Viltrumite instincts had surfaced too quickly.
Earthly wisdom, save me!
Only able to speak the truth, Leon naturally laid out another genuine thought as well.
"Of course, that's based on the fact that they imprisoned, abused, and experimented on Superman's cousin for more than a decade. Even with Superman cooperating, they still attacked, intending to wipe us all out."
"The methods they used were lethal. I had more than enough reason to return the favor."
Reason.
Diana seized on that word.
With the insight Athena had granted her, she could tell that Leon himself was not angry about these things.
This was not an impulsive act.
It was simply that this reason had been inserted into cold logic, making the entire killing make sense.
"Then what is your reason for joining this war?"
"Too many. Zod, the other Kryptonians, Luthor, even you. I can find plenty of interesting opponents here, plenty of meaningful killing—"
Leon quickly corrected his train of thought.
"Of course, it's also to help my good friend Superman."
Diana instinctively tightened her grip on her sword hilt.
She realized that Leon was a very dangerous existence. The only fortunate thing was that he possessed reason.
As long as no loopholes were left for him to exploit, he would at least behave like a proper person.
After taking several breaths, Diana made her decision.
"I believe you. We can discuss everything else after we deal with the Kryptonians."
With that, she flew toward the center of the battlefield.
Her divine shield held before her, she slammed into a Kryptonian like a bullet.
Meanwhile, Leon chose Faora, the lieutenant who was searching for Clark while slaughtering soldiers.
Boom!
The sonic boom that erupted not only sent vehicles and soldiers flying, but also made blood pour from their eyes, ears, nose, and mouth as their internal organs were damaged.
Hearing the sound, the battle-hardened Faora did not even turn around. She leaped away to evade.
The Intelligent Atoms throughout Leon's body surged. With a sharp turn that made his entire body tremble, he pursued her change in direction and slammed her into the ground.
The residual force of that turn instantly raised a sand wave dozens of meters high in the desert.
Leon destroyed the hard helmet, and the faceplate receded like a tide.
Panting, Faora grabbed his hand and demanded:
"Leon-El! Why are you opposing us? Don't you want to restore Krypton?"
"Not really. What's so good about that place?"
First of all, I'm not a Kryptonian. Honestly, even if you asked me to restore Viltrum, I wouldn't agree.
Not to mention a society that rigid.
At least on Viltrum, I could fight my way to the top with my fists.
Seeing that negotiations had failed, Faora bent her right fist downward, deploying a wrist blade that stabbed straight at him.
Leon tilted his head aside, narrowly avoiding it. Amid a spray of sparks, it still grazed his cheek and left a faint bloody mark.
But he did not continue attacking.
Because he heard someone approaching from behind. He merely gripped the wrist blade and casually broke the deadly weapon for her.
Releasing Faora, he stepped aside and made room.
Kara, unable to hold herself back any longer, rushed over and continued the assault.
Imitating Leon's movements, she pressed Faora down with her left hand and plowed her across the ground.
"You!"
Her right fist rose high before crashing down heavily.
"Actually!"
The second punch followed immediately.
"Dare!"
The third punch drove Faora into the ground with all her strength.
"Hurt him!"
As her consciousness blurred, Faora was utterly shocked. Hadn't it been agreed that the only Kryptonians left in the world were Zod and Carl?
Why had another one suddenly appeared?!
Watching the battle over there, Leon felt a little proud of his teaching ability.
She was really fired up. Did she want that badly to put what she had just learned into practice?
Kara, I approve of that enthusiasm!
But as a qualified teacher, he did not forget his usual reminder.
Leon activated the communicator.
"Be careful, Kara. This lieutenant is not to be underestimated."
He cares about me.
Hearing that, Kara's punches became even faster and fiercer.
At the same time, Leon saw a meteor streak across the horizon, tearing a terrifying rift through the clouds before vanishing beyond the horizon.
It was Zod and Clark, tearing into each other. They had begun fighting.
"Leon, Zod has split the ship between two sides of Earth. They're preparing to activate the World Engine."
Batman's voice came through the communicator, along with some static.
Listening closely, it sounded a little like the spacecraft Leon had taken to Earth.
"Batman, where are you?"
"On Zod's ship. The key Clark gave me lets me move freely here."
