Background / History
Green Mountain Town and the Treasure Cave
Xiao Yi Xian initially works as a physician at the Ten Thousand Medicine Hall in Green Mountain Town. She has already discovered a concealed treasure cave in the nearby Magical Beast Mountain Range. Qin Chen intrudes into her room and reveals his knowledge of it; she responds with poisoned powder and tries to escape, but his Heavenly Flame and soul power prevent her departure 18.
Qin Chen forces her to disclose the cave’s location by threatening to abandon her among Mating Apes. During the expedition, her fear of him gradually gives way to gratitude when he offers her the rare medicinal herbs. She helps open the cave’s mechanical stone door and receives several techniques and a poison manual from its treasures 19 20.
Her trusted assistant, Li Fei, betrays the cave’s location to Mu Li and the Wolf Head Mercenary Group. After Qin Chen kills the attacking mercenaries and captures Li Fei, Xiao Yi Xian personally executes her assistant. Her hand trembles afterward, but she expresses no regret 20.
Awakening and Departure
The Seven-Colored Poison Manual reveals that Xiao Yi Xian possesses the Woeful Poison Body. Until then, she had believed she was merely unusually resistant to poison. Learning that her constitution could eventually destroy her leaves her terrified, but Qin Chen promises to seek methods of controlling it 21.
After returning to town, she faces harassment from the Wolf Head Mercenary Group, scrutiny from Mr. Yao, and greed from mercenaries she previously treated. She finally awakens her constitution and cultivates with Qin Chen before leaving for the Chu Yun Empire. He equips her for the journey, warns her against Soul Hall promises of a cure, and asks her to avoid unnecessary wars and help protect the Snake-People Tribe 22.
The Poison Sect and Return to Medicine
In the Chu Yun Empire, Xiao Yi Xian establishes the Poison Sect to gather cultivation resources and search for a solution to her condition. Her dealings with subordinates become cold and merciless, contrasting with her original desire for a quiet physician’s life 34 133.
Following Qin Chen’s advice, she searches for the Netherworld Poison Flame and finds it in a poisonous swamp near the empire’s border. Subduing it allows her to reach Dou Zong and temporarily restrain her poison. She resumes treating ordinary people and eventually opens a medical hall, where injured mercenaries and travelers must obey her strict queuing rules 108 131 132.
Reunion and Consolidation of the Chu Yun Empire
Qin Chen reunites with her at the medical hall and brings concrete progress toward controlling her constitution. His Heavenly Capital Flame Seal suppresses it for two to three years, and the treatment helps her advance to Four-Star Dou Zong 131 132 133 134.
Xiao Yi Xian reports that most imperial factions have submitted or been destroyed, but the Ten Thousand Scorpion Sect remains a rival. She has also rejected a Soul Hall Protector’s proposed alliance and secretly traced his movements. Qin Chen subsequently subdues Xie Bi Yan and merges his sect into hers, allowing the Poison Sect to eliminate the remaining opposition and become the Chu Yun Empire’s undisputed ruler 134 136.
She and the Heavenly Flame Venerable then research the Demon Poison Mark for Qin Chen’s accelerated-cultivation plan. Before the group leaves, Xie Bi Yan and Xie Shan are placed in charge of sect affairs and instructed to cooperate with the Jia Ma Empire and Snake-People Tribe 136 138.
Central Plains and the Poison Pill
Xiao Yi Xian accompanies Qin Chen to the Central Plains. At the Heavenly Eye Mountains, she cures Jinshi by absorbing his fire poison, helping secure access to the Heavenly Mountain Blood Pool. The Gold-Eating Rat Tribe also locates a Heavenly Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast needed for her treatment 143 153 154 156.
On Eastern Dragon Island, rare poisons raise her cultivation to Nine-Star Dou Zong. Qin Chen then performs the Poison Pill Method in a volcanic cavern, using an Eighth-Rank Heavenly Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast core and Bodhi Body-Transformation Saliva. After eighteen days, she completes the pill, fully subdues her accumulated source poison, and reaches Six-Star Dou Zun 173 174 175.
She agrees to consolidate her foundation rather than immediately pursue another explosive increase through the ancient tomb’s inheritance or the Venerable Spirit Pill. At Starfall Pavilion, she concentrates on alchemy and successfully refines an ordinary Sixth-Grade Pill 176 179.
Later Activities
Xiao Yi Xian agrees to assist Qin Chen’s plans involving Xiao Yan’s ancient jade despite recognizing that they conflict with her principles. She later coordinates with Xiao Yan to conceal the genuine Tou She Ancient God Jade and arrange a deceptive substitute, using a supposed instability in her poison body as a cover for leaving Starfall Pavilion 179 189.
At the Ye Family estate, two Six-Star Dou Zong elders order an attack after she rejects their invitation. She kills both elders and their followers with spatial force, then calls out Ye Zhong, who has been watching from within the estate 192.
By her later departure with Qin Chen, she has reached Half-Saint. Rather than accompany him throughout his Eastern Region visit, she intends to explore the Woeful Poison Body’s ancient tomb on her own 218.
Appearance
Xiao Yi Xian is repeatedly depicted in white clothing, with a slender waist and a graceful, ethereal bearing 18 173.
- Eyes: Violet-gray in her ordinary state; become lifeless gray during the Woeful Poison Body’s full eruption 132 173.
- Hair: Originally black, later silver-white under the influence of her source poison. Forming the Poison Pill restores its original color 174 175.
- Controlled color change: After mastering her poison, she can turn her hair white again at will; she does so after noticing Qin Chen’s preference 175.
- Constitution mark: A thin seven-colored line on her lower abdomen identifies the Woeful Poison Body. It lengthens as poison accumulates 21.
- Later bearing: Her earlier timidity gives way to calm gentleness and authority after reaching Dou Zong 108 132.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian’s central ambition is to heal others and refine medicine. Rare medicinal herbs excite her more than wealth of equivalent value, and successfully producing a non-poisonous pill moves her to tears. Once her constitution becomes manageable, she eagerly returns to treating patients rather than abandoning medicine for sect leadership 19 31 131.
She is compassionate but not defenseless or indiscriminately forgiving. She uses poison against intruders, executes Li Fei for betrayal, and destroys attackers at the Ye Family estate. Her early survival in Green Mountain Town had already required her to kill before meeting Qin Chen 18 20 192.
The danger of harming others makes her fearful and withdrawn while her constitution remains uncontrolled. Securing control restores her gentler, shy disposition and makes her increasingly playful with Qin Chen. Her loyalty to him can outweigh her moral reservations, though she still urges caution when his plans appear life-threatening 132 135 179 180 185.
Abilities & Skills
Woeful Poison Body
- Poison-based growth: Devours poisons to increase cultivation rapidly; stronger toxins provide greater benefit 21 130.
- Poison absorption: Draws toxins from others and converts them into usable energy, as demonstrated when curing Jinshi’s deeply rooted fire poison 153 154.
- Uncontrolled danger: Excessive accumulation causes corrosive backlash and potentially fatal eruption. The identifying abdominal line reaching the heart marks the constitution’s strongest—and most dangerous—state 21.
- Post-Poison Pill potency: Her Calamity Poison Qi mutates through interaction with the Netherworld Poison Flame. Even a trace can endanger an ordinary Dou Zun, while she can recall the released poison completely 174.
Netherworld Poison Flame
- Becomes her source flame after she subdues it using Qin Chen’s method 108 132.
- Absorbs excess toxins and initially prevents sudden uncontrolled outbreaks 132.
- Has limited capacity: Xiao Yi Xian fears her growing poison could eventually overwhelm it, possibly upon reaching Dou Zun. Strong emotions can still cause leakage before the later seal and Poison Pill treatment 132.
- Helps the Eighth-Rank beast core contain all her accumulated source poison during Poison Pill formation 175.
Poison Control Methods
| Method | Effect | Limitation / Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Netherworld Poison Flame | Absorbs excess toxins and temporarily suppresses the constitution 108 132. | Its absorption capacity is finite 132. |
| Heavenly Capital Flame Seal | Qin Chen applies the Heavenly Flame Venerable’s sealing technique 133 134. | Suppresses the poison body for two to three years 134. |
| Poison Pill Method | Condenses accumulated poison into a controlled pill within her dantian 173 174. | Completed with an Eighth-Rank beast core; fully contains her existing source poison 175. |
| Ancient tomb inheritance | Offers a further prospect for comprehensive mastery 53. | She postpones it to consolidate her strength, then later departs to investigate the tomb 176 218. |
- Original requirements: Three Heavenly Flames, a Seventh-Rank Heavenly Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast core, and Bodhi Body-Transformation Saliva 132.
- Higher-realm concern: Yao Lao warns that a Seventh-Rank core may fail to withstand the constitution’s poison at Peak Dou Zun. Xiao Yi Xian’s successful procedure instead uses an Eighth-Rank core 53 173.
Medicine and Alchemy
| Milestone | Demonstrated Ability |
|---|---|
| First non-poisonous pill | Uses Qin Chen’s method to refine medicine with soul power and ambient natural energy rather than her poisonous Dou Qi 31. |
| Before Poison Pill formation | Produces ordinary Tier 5 Pills with difficulty, but can exploit her constitution to refine Tier 6 Poison Pills 173. |
| After gaining full poison control | Refines her first ordinary Sixth-Grade Pill using Qin Chen’s Myriad Beast Cauldron and Green Lotus Core Flame 179. |
| Continued improvement | Repeatedly produces pills without poisonous qi, demonstrating precise control over her poison-attributed Dou Qi 180. |
- Initially cultivated fire-attributed Dou Qi but switched to poison-attributed cultivation after her constitution erupted 132.
- Lacks the usual fire and wood attributes at the time of her Sixth-Grade achievement 179.
- Aims to place among the top ten at the Central Plains Pill Gathering six years after her Dragon Island preparations 173.
Cultivation Techniques and Spatial Force
- Low Heaven Grade poison-attribute method: Supplied by Qin Chen; combines with her constitution to absorb environmental energy and hostile toxins 153.
- Spatial perception: Detects concealed spatial fluctuations around Starfall Pavilion 177.
- Spatial attacks: Crushes two Six-Star Dou Zong elders and their followers into blood mist 192.
- Spatial travel: Opens a spatial crack before departing with Qin Chen 218.
Mechanical Arts and Poison Research
- Uses her knowledge of mechanical arts to open the cave’s stone door 19.
