Background / History

Bei Bei first appears beside Tang Ya as they watch over the unconscious Huo Yuhao after his first Soul Ring hunt. Although he regrets that Huo Yuhao's ring appears to be only ten years old, he recognizes that surviving the hunt alone is impressive. When Jiang Bai approaches, Bei Bei immediately manifests blue scales and azure lightning in readiness, then identifies Xue Ying as a Detached Martial Soul. 1 2

He encourages Huo Yuhao not to be discouraged by his weak-looking first ring and supports Tang Ya's decision to accept him into the Tang Sect. During their journey to Shrek Academy, Bei Bei protects the younger members of the group, battles a thousand-year Mandala Snake for Tang Ya's Soul Ring, and praises Huo Yuhao's Mental Detection. 2 3

At Shrek, Bei Bei continues acting as Huo Yuhao's senior brother. He offers help with living expenses and advises him to take academy work if needed, while remaining prepared to support him financially. At Sea God Lake, Tang Ya confesses that her Martial Soul has become an evil, devouring-type Blue Silver Grass. When Jiang Bai confronts her under Mu En's instructions, Bei Bei shields her, strikes his own abdomen to demonstrate his resolve, and promises to plead before Mu En personally. His willingness to die before allowing Tang Ya to be killed persuades Jiang Bai to withdraw and leave her to explain her situation herself. 73

After advancing to Soul King, Bei Bei accompanies Tang Ya to the Star Dou Great Forest for her fourth Soul Ring hunt, joining Huo Yuhao's group so that they can protect one another. He incapacitates the Mighty Crocodiles guarding a five-thousand-year Verdant Rejuvenation Vine, allowing Tang Ya to obtain a suitable life-attribute ring. He subsequently supports Huo Yuhao's judgment during the search for a spiritual-type Soul Beast, while checking whether the younger Soul Master can withstand the dangers of the mixed zone. 75 76

Xuan Zi's capture of the Three-Eyed Golden Lion leads to a confrontation with the Star Dou Great Forest's powerful Soul Beasts. Bei Bei and Tang Ya help protect the younger members when the group prepares for a desperate fight. The Auspicious Beast prevents Di Tian from killing them, and Bei Bei is among those shocked by the subsequent appearance of a black-haired girl resembling Huo Yuhao. 77

In Heaven Dou City, Bei Bei accompanies Tang Ya and Jiang Bai to the Ironblood Sect, which occupies the Tang Sect's former grounds. He supports Tang Ya's revenge against its upper ranks but initially intends to knock out the gate guards rather than kill them, in keeping with Mu En's warning that Tang Ya must limit slaughter until she fully masters her Martial Soul. Jiang Bai instead kills the guards with ice spikes. 86

Later, Bei Bei visits Jiang Bai's residence with Tang Ya and Zhang Lexuan, where they encounter Du Busi. Du Busi recognizes Tang Ya's involvement in the Ironblood Sect's destruction, briefly alarming the visitors before Jiang Bai acknowledges their joint participation. Du Busi then arranges a contest between Bei Bei and Long Aotian, restricting Long Aotian to Soul Skills below the ten-thousand-year level because of their cultivation disparity. He is also measured in his treatment of Soul Beasts. During Tang Ya's fourth-ring hunt, he incapacitates several Mighty Crocodiles rather than killing them, explaining that he does not wish to slaughter Soul Beasts unless he needs a ring himself. 75

His greatest loyalty is to Tang Ya. When her Martial Soul mutates and she reveals herself as an Evil Soul Master, Bei Bei shields her from Jiang Bai and declares that he will not abandon her so long as she has not willingly fallen into darkness. 73

His restraint also extends to Tang Ya's revenge. At the Ironblood Sect, he proposes incapacitating the gate guards because the intended targets are the sect's upper ranks and excessive slaughter could endanger Tang Ya's control over her Martial Soul. 86

Bei Bei takes Shrek's honor seriously, expressing his determination that the academy must not lose the tournament and preparing to rely on his bloodline awakening if needed.
