Background / History

Yun Shan was the eighth-generation leader of the Misty Cloud Sect and Yun Yun's teacher. He found Yun Yun when she was young, brought her into the sect, and raised her as both disciple and daughter. 6 40

Concerned that the sect had declined since its founding ancestor Yun Potian's era, Yun Shan believed that its future required stronger leadership. He pressed Yun Yun to break through to Dou Emperor, inherit the sect leader's position, and shoulder the sect's affairs while he entered seclusion. 2 6

After Yun Yun became the ninth-generation sect leader, Yun Shan entered secluded cultivation. He initially framed the attempt as a life-or-death pursuit of greater strength, but remained stalled at the final barrier before Dou Zong. 6 7 38

Wu Protector of the Soul Hall later approached him with an offer: assistance reaching Dou Zong in exchange for using the Misty Cloud Sect to locate the Xiao Clan.
